Can't find dimensions for the Colt anywhere. How's it compare to the PM9? Thanks.

It's smaller and lighter. Has an aluminum frame I believe. Colt Pocket 9 info is few and far between on the web it seems....

Smaller, lighter, Colt... Why doesn't everyone have one?

I'm thinking of trading my beloved Series I Kimber for one to use as a carry gun. Are the Pocket Nines known to be reliable or problematic little things?

Because they're hard to find, cost a little more and some people don't like the "heavy" trigger.

I don't know how heavy the trigger is, but I'm sure it can't be half of what my Cop .357 is.

The only place I have ever seen a Pocket Nine is in magazines. I have not heard good things about them but I like the way they look on paper.

Kahr makes some really nice pistols. I have an MK40. I haven't heard many good things about the polymer Kahrs however.

I recall somebody on TFL was claiming that the frames warp on Pocket 9's. I don't know if he knew what he was talking about though...

Well. I've owned the Colt pocket nine and it was a POS , infact we bought two of them and both were a POS.

The Kahr PM is smaller and lighter with a much better trigger and it will actually FEED!

Colt was sued for copying Kahr and they lost. At the time we couldn't get mags or grips for them and parts are going to be impossible! Bren

I take what you say with a grain of salt as the Colt is definately smaller than the PM9 and their weight is very close. As you've owned both you should know what I say is true.

I was talking about width. Oh well...

I'd still rather have an MK9 than either.

These guys seem happy with their pocket nines (http://www.1911forum.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=64513)

The Kahr is 0.9 inches thick, but I don’t know about the Colt. I bet it is at least thicker than the PM9 through the grips, though.

J. Mark Bertrand used to have a great review of the Pocket Nine, but now his website seems mainly devoted to Christian philosophy.

Ditto everything that Bren said. The grip on the Pocket 9 (still think Detonics when I hear that term) is thick and rubber. I have a P9 Covert in my pocket right now and would never consider the Colt for such duty.

Everyones experience varies.

I owned a Colt Pocket Nine and I still think that it is the perfect 9mm for pocket carry. Mine was flawless. Easily the smallest 9mm with a locked breech when it came out. Very easy to shoot with a recoil that even my wife thought pleasant. It could be fired without setting the hammer via the slide, somthing kahr still does not do.

I sold mine because, after Colt was sued by Kahr (if you compare the offset barrel and trigger you can instantly see the similarity) they simply quit making the Pocket 9 and the parts. I called Colt directly and they told me they had no parts and were not gonna make em.

To me, that terminally flawed the gun. However, I sold it for more than I paid for it (one of the few I ever made out on)

I remember comparing my Pocket Nine to my Kahr P9. The Colt was wider in the grips by about a tenth of an inch, but it was smaller and narrower and shorter in every other aspect. When you compare the Colt to the PM9 you can see that Colt was ahead of everyone else.

I still have a tricked out Colt Pony. Though not a mirror image, it is very similar (offset barrel lug, dao, etc). My wife swiped it from me.

If you could get parts it would be a world beater. Without parts it is just a collectors item to me.

Yes I've owned both (well P Covert not PM) and you? the Kahr by far is a better gun. I will take your words from a grain of salt because it doesn't come from EXPERIENCE!

The Colt also had a bulky snaggy grip and was so sharp you could shave with it. :o some rounds like Cor-bon would lock the slide shut solid too.

SM&A > www.colt380.com used to make big bucks making the right (well almost) and the bulletin board was full of pocket nine owners with problems.

I could go on but think I'll stop here. :p

Heres a tip,, when looking for a gun, forget "the brand name" and look at what it really is. Bren

I have compared a Kahr and Colt Mustang side by side. As far as the grips on the pocket 9 they are easily changed to thinner ones, but then so are the Kahrs. I just don't think the fat standard grip should be taken into consideration when judging width.

Hey, no fighting.

For what it's worth, the Pocket Nine in question has gone through the McDougall package. It has thin grips.

Colt mustang? What? I've compared them too BY OWNING, CARRYING AND SHOOTING THEM AND OTHERS!

Shmackey, The wood grips are a big help and so is the two tone but you just can't shine a,,, :uhoh:

:D Well, good luck to you. Bren
