Anyone know if berdan style primers are available. I got a hydraulic primer punch set and now have a ton of de-primed and sized 7.7x58.

Marlin 45 carbine April 14, 2010, 08:34 PM difficult to find at best, I've got a buddy that shoots that Jap round and has a bunch of brass berdan primered. Jesse Heywood April 14, 2010, 08:57 PM Old Western Scrounger used to have them. www.ows-ammo.com I didn't find them on the website, but it would be worth calling to see if they have them or know where to get them. NCsmitty April 14, 2010, 09:25 PM I checked around the net and found this site. I believe it's in located in NZ so chances are it would be unlikely to be able to order. Point being, they are available for loading and if you find the right distributor, who knows? The bottom line is, it won't be cheap. http://magnumimports.co.nz/cubecart/primers/berdan/cat_33.html NCsmith Visionz45 April 14, 2010, 09:47 PM I just received my Prvi Partizan brass. The Lake city has held up really well also. This berdan primer thing is more of that urge to do something new, though, Ill wait till I see some pop up at a gunshow. I saw some PMC LR's about a year ago, 2000 or so. I was gifted 500 semi rimmed cases and turned the rims down and prepped them. Seems like waste to trash them. helg April 14, 2010, 10:11 PM Plant, which supplies primers for Wolf, lists both boxer and berdan primers. http://www.flame.murom.ru/en/Htmls/primers.htm I believe it should be matter of customer interest for the berdan primers to become imported. NCsmitty April 14, 2010, 10:23 PM Your posts are always informative, helg. That is a very comprehensive list and it's primer dimensions are good to reference. Thanks. NCsmitty evan price April 15, 2010, 02:03 AM Old Western Scrounger hasn't had Berdan primers in years. He still finds odd lots at auctions and etc. but he has no steady supply anymore. These things are common in Europe, Wolf makes them. Why nobody importing at least the common ones? You can still buy those silly Etronics ones for electric-ignition Remington rifles. I would imagine not much demand for those. MulticalinMO April 15, 2010, 03:19 PM If anyone wants to import some I'm in for several thousand depending on the cost. RippinSVT April 15, 2010, 04:03 PM With a little finesse, it is possible to convert Berdan brass to accept Boxer primers. Beelzy April 15, 2010, 04:07 PM A little finesse he says.........LOL! More like a little PITA! RippinSVT April 15, 2010, 04:21 PM Ok, so it is a big pain in the ass. lol. But, it can be done, and i imagine if you shot some obscure caliber, or had a LOT of berdan brass, it'd be worth it. Visionz45 April 15, 2010, 05:25 PM I wish I bought the primers at the gun show now. They were really cheap too. W.E.G. April 15, 2010, 05:47 PM Berdan primers are not simply Berdan primers. Not like Boxer primers that just come in sizes Large and Small. Don't count on your particular batch of Berdan brass being compatible with some arbitrary batch of Berdan primers that "look about right."
