Squirrels rarely remember every place they left nuts ..... I wonder how those who have a gun in every room .... remember exactly where they left each one..!??

I tend to choose a place for things (not necessarily just guns) which can be considered a ''safe place'' ....... yeah the famous safe place! And there are times when I know I chose that place with logic and good sense (at the time) and yet .. it was so good, I cannot quickly find the required item...... sometimes even giving up knowing it'll ''show up eventually'' :p

I guess if each gun is retrieved on a daily basis then not much prob ... but I know that my wife's house gun sits for many days, happily concealed in amongst some clothing .. now THAT we both can remember just fine but ... in every room? I'm not quite so sure - and we ain't the tidiest people either!!

I remember one happy afternoon spent searching for two handguns, ammunition, and magazines my aunt had hidden in various places so they wouldn't be found by the 'wrong' people. We didn't that day find the right combination of pistols, magazines, and ammuntion to make just one pistol operational.

I know exactly where all my guns are. Of course I cheat.:p

I only keep CCWs here at the homefront, everything else is in a walk-in vault, off site.

When I had guns "in various places" in a business (s) I knew. Darn right creative I am. Had K frames and SGs ...did ya know you can get a hollow fake tree for business decor, did ya know it holds a police trade in 870 real well? Even had real neat hidden hinges and latch...that one was near the walk in vault...

I know where Mom's stuff is, I know where my best buds stuff is...his wife had to call me once as to where some guns were when he was out of town...She wanted to shoot the Commander , Model 18 and Buckmark...not in the floor safe , I had "forgotten" ( ahem) to return them.

I know where all my firearms are at all times. If its not locked in the safe, I'm wearing it or cleaning it.

The bigger the gun, the easier it is to find it. Just like squirrels with nuts... :D

Now the I live in the great state of WI I have lost my right to defend myself. The state of IA trusted me to carry a gun, but not in WI. The gun I would normally carry everywhere with me in IA does not see near as much use here in WI. I was leaving it in the holster on top of my dresser. I started to feel like I had lost a good friend of mine so one day I strapped it on, and walked around the house and garage the rest of the day with it. The problem was at some point I removed the holster from my belt and laid it down. A few weeks later when I started looking for it. I couldn't for the life of me figure out where I had put it!!! I looked through the whole house with no luck, I even asked my wife if she had seen it. I should have phrased the question a little differantly because she was not too pleasedI had misplaced a whole gun. I finally found it right on top of my dresser where it belonged. It had been placed in a wicker basket and then got covered up. I have commited to being more careful, it scared the crap out of me to not know where my Steyr S40 was. After loosing a gun I can honestly say it will never happen again.

I've got a gun in every room of the house, admittedly a small house without a large number of rooms. If you stash things deliberately and intelligently, you'll be much less likely to forget them. I know whereof I speak, because I used to stash things willy-nilly, and ended up having to hunt for them.

I cant believe Squirrel Nuts hasn't weighed in on this. Come to think of it, he hasn't been around lately. I dont have to worry about where my pistols are, what with kids in the house. They are on me or in the safe. http://www.thehumorsource.com/pictures/135.jpg
