Besides the Colt Detective Special, Cobra and Agent are there any other 6 round snubbies out there? Thanks.

Smith & Wesson K-frame snubbies such as the model 10, and maybe some others. Also check Taurus at: www.taurususa.com

What calibers are you looking for?
There have been 2 and 2.5" I, J, K, L, and maybe even some N-frame Smith & Wessons made in .22 LR, .32 S&W Long, .32 H&R Mag., .38 Spl., .357 Mag., 9mm, .38 S&W, and possibly .44 Spl. and maybe even .44 Mag.

Heck---2 days ago I took home a S&W 686P .357mag with 2.5in barrel.
It's a 7 shot snub nose revolver.

Caliber 38 spl. Looking for something to CCW if Ohio ever passes. I have a Ruger Speed Six in 357/38, but was looking for something a little lighter, not necessarily ultra lite.

If you can find one.
S&W 627 PC .357 8 shot 2 5/8" barrel
It is a N frame so not a small stubbie.

Dr. Rob,
What's this 2" GP-100? I looked on Ruger's web site and didn't see it.

hi,
the german Weihrauch made a .38 Spec sixshooter (2,5") under the name HW38
(downside: zinc-alloy frame)
They make a .357 Magnum 3" snub, the Hunter HW357.
(Steel frame)
The .38 is imported to US under some other brand name.

Ruger kpg 131
If I understand Ruger's naming convention this would be a stainless GP with adjustable sights and a 3 inch barrel.
The k indicates stainless. The second digit is barrel length and the last digit is 1 for adjustable and 0 for fixed sights. There might be some information about underlug length in there but I'm not sure. My full underlug adjustable sight, stainless 6inch GP was a KGP161.
A look at Ruger's page could figure this out, but I'll leave that to someone with a must faster connection than this one. :)

Just before Taurus took over Rossi, Rossi put out a 6-shot snubbie called a M677.
It looked like the frame was maybe a little smaller than a K-frame. It also came with a rubber grip to help with recoil. It was a 357 mag snubbie. I had one for awhile. It had a pretty good fit/finish and wasn't too bad to shoot in 38 Special, 357 was another matter. Lots of muzzle blast and recoil in 357. It was reasonably accurate out to about 10-15 yards. A better pistol shot probably could wring out some more accuracy. Once I replaced the mainspring and rebound spring the trigger pull went from horrendous to just heavy, shooting was OK. I consider this pistol a pretty good gun and a steal if you can find one. I sold mine because I didn't like the cylinder digging into my hip when I carried it. I shot a few CCW matches at 100-150 rnds apiece and the little gun performed great.

The 686 and 686P are on my list for snubbies. I've got the 4" barrel version now -- looking forward to the 2 1/2" in the coming year. :)

The best deal I could find on a new 2" six shooter in .38 Spcl (Actually +P rated - according to a call to S&W Customer sevice!) was the M10-11 I bought from CDNN Investments (TX) for $280 + $10 S/H (+ ffl transfer). It broke in perfectly after ~600 dry fires and cleaning/lube. All carbon steel & blued, the short barrel version of the venerable 'M & P' revolver is a bit heavy and larger than the typical airweights (It is a K-frame) - but super smooth. I replaced the UM's combat grips they are shipped with, which are the best, grip-wise, with a pair of wood boot-style grips from S&W - a traditional small look. Yeah, the UM's felt better!

Stainz,
That sounds interesting, do you have a picture with the wooden grips that you can share? Do you have any idea how much it does weigh? The price certainly seems right. Thanks.

My .32 H&R Mags are six-shooters. I love them. One is a Smith & Wesson 331 that was nearly new when I bought it (Don't you love it when you're at the right place at the right time?:) Hardly EVER happens to me.) and the other is a Taurus 731. Nice, relatively low recoil.
I absolutely HATE to have to "factor in" recoil now. Arthritis--it happens too quickly.

" ... Colt magnum Carry ... "
What are the chances of seeing the Colt Magnum Carry in production again?

"What are the chances of seeing the Colt Magnum Carry in production again?"
Depends entirely on market forces.
Colt is selling every gun they can make, but their still strapped for cash.
If they can develop their market enough to allow increasing production facilities, they may be able to consider putting other guns into production.
The first decision would be to determine WHICH gun would help further increase their sales volume.
If Colt decided the DS-II/Magnum Carry would be a big seller, they'd probably bring it back.

Don't forget the Ruger Speed, Service and Security Six revolvers from the '70's and '80's.

Handled a NIB DS-II awhile back----but the cylinder play was just god-awfull(side to side and front to back)----other wise I would have bought it.
Colt seems to have improved the quality of their 1911's---to where they are arguably the best out there right now-----hopefully they can do that with the revolvers too.
