If you have what was your recipe and oal? Just curious because I see on the Winchester reloading data 4.3 to 4-8gn 231 with an oal of 1.100.

I have found that MBC bullets have a longer engagement length than bullets with a step in it's profile and must be seated deeper, for a shorter OAL.

I have also found this longer engagement to produce better accuracy.

OAL is talked to death here, daily.
Whatever OAL allows YOUR gun to consistantly go to battery is correct for YOUR gun.
None of the "too short/too much pressure" that is parroted here daily, has ever produced anyone who can varify it with any proof.

OAL For YOUR gun:
1.) With the barrel removed from the gun, find a FIRED case of proper length that is flush with the barrel end when the case mouth touches the chamber step.
2.) Remove said case, insert the bullet to be reloaded into the barrel and push that case into the chamber and over the bullet.
3.) Carefully remove the bullet/case as an assembly and measure it's overall length while pinching the bullet/case juncture with your fingers to keep the bullet from moving further into the case.
4.) That measurement is the MAXIMUM OAL for YOUR barrel with THAT bullet.

If you load to that OAL (I go -.010) and have problems, it's not the OAL.
It's the crimp, lack of crimp(bell not removed), bullet diameter, but NOT the OAL.

Just sayin'
