I like my Turk but .............. despite woodwork being fair and would probably come up well with some work .. I HATE the feel of it .... always get a bruised cheek because have to have cheek on comb to manage sightline with the irons.

So .. two things i plan ... new furniture ........ please tell me your own preference if you have done a change on a Turk .... and ...... who seems to do the easiest ''non'smithing'' scope mount that's worth any consideration.

I like the 8mm round but want a more comfortable platform now ... barrel and action are great .... so a change seems worth the trouble.

Looking for a non-smith scope mounting solution? try this: http://www.iron-elite.com/

I'm considering this once I get my M48.

I've recently rebuilt a Turk. Here's what I did:

1) Had the bolt handle forged to clear the scope.

2) Since the receiver had the thumb-hole cut-out on the left side, I had a gunsmith install a one-piece dovetail base. It tends to reduce the flexing caused by that cut-out.

3) Stuck a Timney trigger in it. That probably did more for the accuracy than anything else.

4) Bought one of those Parker-Hale .308 barrels from Sarco and had it installed.

5) Picked up an 'FN Sniper' stock from Numrich Arms and bedded the action into it.

6) Found an adjustable butt-plate at a gunshow and installed it myself.

7) Got an 8-32X44 Simmons scope to top it off.

I then took this mismatched pile of surplus parts out to the range and put three bullets into a 0.14" (center-to-center) space at 100 yards. I have since entered a 600 yard prone match and, while I didn't win, I wasn't ashamed either.

While you probably won't want to go to all that trouble, you may see something there that you would like to try. Have fun. I did.

Thx for some feedback guys ....... it really is a great help to know what has worked for others. I only plan a pretty basic change .. furniture is the priority .. but then scoping .. it'll mean ''doing'' the bold handle of course.
