My uncle showed me something of his and I want to get some info on it. It's an old Winchester model 1890 in 22 Short. The engraving on the octagonal barrel is this:
MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN
CONN. U.S.A. PAT JUNE 26. 88. DEC 6. 92. NOV 27. 06. MAY 30. 1911
MOD. 1890 - 22 SHORT
serial number is 350978 and below that is the letter A
anyone have any info about this thing?
James

Take a peek at this site..

According to the site and serial number you provided, the rifle was made in 1908.
You might also want to take a peek at "Explanation of the Winchester 1890 rifle" found at the top menu.
A second site gives the date for your serial # at 1907.

I would think the only sure way would be to contact Winchester directly.
Good Shooting
