I was looking at Sig P238 today and noticed tHe markings HD on slide. Salesperson explained meant heavy duty. Could not find on SigSauier URL but did find a search on Guns Ameraica for Sig P23U HD that the HD weight 20 oz rather than the normal 15 oz.

Should be little to no recoil with that much weigth. Almost same weight as a PPK/s 380.

Slowly making up my mind that must have a Sig P238 HD ..20 OZ. Don't mind the extra weight, wear suspenders if in pocket or Forbus paddlle holster and from time to time use a Waist band under my shirt.

I would have no problem with my P238 at 20 oz.. While I don't find the recoil with the standard weight pistol to be at all objectionable, and the controlability and accuracy to be excellent, I wonder whether, assuming the extra weight is added to the slide, possibly the recoil spring life may be improved, which seems to be somewhat of an issue.

Really thought about getting out of 380 handguns. but got so much reloading stuff , seems a shame. Got the gadget to allow pusing a case all the way through a taper crimp die so everthing gets sized. Great set up for relaoding. I purchased some all copper hollow point bullets. With the HD sig should be able to push then fast enough to get expansion.

Looked at a lot of Smiths five shots, but like my Ruger SP101 with a Crimson Trace, just cant see downgrading to a S&W. I took the clip off of a inside the waist band holster and it makes a great in the pocket carry. Returning ot Midway the De Santis thing.

as far as i know the HD model has a steel frame.

the regular model is HeavyDuty and has a mild recoil for its size. no need to get the HD model for reduced recoil.

JM2C!
YMMV

It would be ok on the belt but in a pocket? I think that's a bit too heavy, I assume that's empty so add another 6 ounces when loaded.

My BDA is 28 ounces fully loaded (11) and I can carry it in the pocket but I wouldn't do it day in and day out.

Twenty ounces is still less than a steel small frame revolver.

I carry a steel frame Mustang in my pocket in a Don Hume pocket holster Its not hard to carry a 20 oz small pistol.

But it doesn't fit in your pocket, either.
