I was in our local sporting goods store today to pick up my Tikka T3 Lite. I walked past the used rifle section and they had a Weatherby Vanguard Deluxe, in 30-06 that they had just taken in on trade for sale at $550.00. I looked it over, I doubt this rifle has over 100 rounds through it. It is in beautiful condition. Wood is beautiful, not a scratch on it. Bore is like glass. The blueing is clean, no scratches or marks at all. It had a low end scope on it but the rifle itself is immaculate. $550.00 seemed like a pretty good deal to me. I have it on hold because I am not sure if I can justify another 30-06 just because "its a good deal". Just curious what you guys thought.

It's not a bad deal. I have a cheaper synthetic Vangaurd in .30-06 and it shoots like a champ. If the funds are there, go for it. There's nothing wrong with having two or more rifles in the same caliber. I've seen that model you're talking about and you're right. It is pretty.

I have a .30-06 Vanguard Sporter. It's a great rifle, accurate and a pleasure to shoot. The trigger isn't quite what my FN Model 70 has on it, but the Weatherby was less than half the price.:)

It's a heavy gun, but otherwise its hard to find anything wrong with it, apart from it being push-feed, but so is the Tikka.

The Vanguard Deluxe is no longer listed in the Weatherby website catalog and as I understand has been discontinued.

The small pic is from the auction and does the rifle no justice , it is hands down the nicest looking rifle I have ever owned.

BTW mine too is a .30-06.
