Shooting ranges around Nashville?
I go to Vanderbilt, and some time in the future I'm considering buying a gun here and going out on the weekends with my friends to shoot. Could any of you recommend some decent shooting ranges around the city? Ideally, they'd closer to the university, but I know that might not be the case.

What kind of shooting do you do? I like to shoot long range so my favorite range is in Manchester (past Murfreesboro). They rifle range goes out to 300 yards.

Stones River Hunter Education Center (Hobson Pike Range) is in Antioch, which is not far from downtown Nashville is a very nice outdoor range:

Note: Double check their hours of operation before visiting the gun range.
Located in Davidson County at Hobson Pike & Percy Priest Lake
2618 Hobson Pike, Antioch, TN 37013
Phone: 615-641-8896
Facilities include: 50-foot range (30 positions), 50-yard range (20 positions), 100-yard range (18 positions including 2 positions wheelchair accessible), 10-50 yard archery sight-in range and a 10-80 yard archery walk-thru range
Thanks! I'm generally interested in an outdoor range. The first gun I get depends on the money I have available. It will probably be a pistol.

There's an unattended range in Ashland City, the Cheatham County WRA Range, about 1/2 hour from Nashville. A little country store sells the range tickets ($5.00!) There are pistol and rifle sections (up to 100 yards) and cease fires are by common consent. It's in the woods with no amenities so bring your own targets, drinks, food, toilet paper for the ladies, etc. It's my favorite place to shoot excepting private property.
TKA: PM me if you want to meet up there sometime. I'm always looking for some range company.
