I am still scratching my head and trying to analyse my data from this last weekends shooting session with my .308. If anyone can help then thanks in advance!
I am using 168Gr GMM, and I don't have a chrony. I know that the velocity is supposed to be in the 2650 range with a 24 inch barrel. I only got actual data at 300, 500, 700, and 800 meters. Now I am plugging numbers into Hornady's online ballistic calculator trying to find the "magic combo" that matches my numbers and fills in the holes that I didn't get come-ups for. The issue is that I am only getting accurate numbers when I drop my velocity well into the 2500 FPS range, and this sounds really slow for that loading in my 24 inch barrel. Does anyone else have numbers or think this sounds normal/strange? This is the first time I am pushing this gun outside 400 meters. Here are my actual values, in meters and MOA.
100--zero
300--4.75
500--12.5
700--23.5
800--30
The Hornady calculator says that I shouldn't be dropping this fast. Should I just put in the lower FPS to get my 200, 400, 600, 900 and 1000? Should that be reasonably on? Sorry for all the noob questions. Thanks again in advance
