found this old case laying around in my garage. I suspect it's an old wool-lined vunyl case for a Browning/FN Hi Power pistol. I did a google search and saw one guy selling them for a hundred bucks. I know it dates back to the 70's or so or before, but can't place it. any suggestions and does it really command a price like that being vintage/curio item? Looks like these.

Did any of those sell? If not, it doesn't command that price. Asking price and what it would sell for are often two different things. Having said that, I guess if you find a Browning collector who needs all the accessories, you could get that much...

I honestly do not think they are worth 100 bucks a pop.

They can make some older vintage HPs such as the infamous T series pistols a little more desirable since it makes it look more original whether the rug is original or not. I have seen plenty of HPs selling in the lower prices even when supplied with a rug. I might pay more around the lines of 40 dollars for one in good condition that I can verify is an actual Browning piece.

I don't understand why people think these HP's are worth so much money and so collector worthy. I had a guy wanting to trade me his HP. He wants a grand for it and doesn't want it shot (it's never been shot). They're ok, but I don't think they are things of beauty.

I do think they are things of beauty but I also think people are asking way too much for them. When I was doing consignment sales a little bit back a guy came in with a Hi Power he had for "40 years" Yup, it dated to 1986 and when I told him this he would not hear any of it. He said it was unfired which it appeared so. Price he wanted: 1300 dollars. I told him it would be a waste of time for me to list it but since he was a good customer I did it just to entertain him. He ended up taking it back with him when there were no takers for even 1000 dollars over a year later.
