Office Burglary Alarm

Well, there's nothing like a very quick trip to the office at 2 AM to respond to respond to the burglary alarm. On the up side, there was no actual break-in. Not sure if someone was trying to jimmy the back door or maybe the wind set it off (it is windy tonight).

Having responded to actual break-ins before, I turned into the parking lot expecting all manner of police lights flashing. There were none. None behind the building, either. Knowing the alarm code was from the back door, it didn't bother me to go in alone and have a look around since I had to re-set the alarm any way. Having a trusty cocked-and-locked 45ACP in the pocket sure made the task seem safer.

I responded to many over the years, I always tell the police that I am armed and responding, In the old days I knew all the guys on nights by first names, and they usually were there before me. If there were no signs on broken glass or pryed door, I would enter gun in hand and turn all the lights on, "the panel was right by the front door. If you aren't pretty sure, it may be worth waiting outside until they show up and clear the store. I was young and really not saftey concious back in the day. I was also pissed that I had to get dressed and drive over there at 3 or 4 in the morning.
The best one was when someone turned the gas on in the store next to me, on Christmas eve one year. The explosion took out all the windows for 2 blocks. The building sank 2 inches from the blast, it was a "fish store" and the competion was the mob controlled fish store that he was slowly putting out of business. The best part was that there were fish flying a block away from the blast. Gas goes out the weakest point. like a cannon, so my store was 100% fine and it was all mirrors, not one cracked.
