Do you guys think a s&w classic hunter of 1989 model 627-0, .357 is a good handgun for hunting?

I'm sure it's a reasonably good gun, but I think a lot would depend on what you're hunting. Mice? Probably overkill. Lions? Probably not enough gun. Deer? If the caliber is legal where you are and you can get close enough and shoot accurately enough, maybe. Coyotes? Yup.

IIRC, that model has a 6.5" heavy Barrel, and unfluted cylinder?

It should be obscenely strong, well able to take any sane .357 mag load.
