Being that I'm so impressed with my newest pistol, (MK9) I'd like to hear some other impressions from the people who've been using an MK9 for CCW for a while. Mine makes a loud "POP", but it's really nice to have a pistol this small that shoots a good round with such a light recoil. 9MM ammo is pretty cheap too! Plus, easy to field strip and clean. Pret' near as easy as a Glock. :) Been a while since I've bought one that I like this much. The only thing I don't particularly care for is the extended magazine. It looks a little weird hanging out of the grip.
If this Kahr keeps on pleasing me so much, I'm going to buy it a RafterS shark skin holster and matching belt. :)

I'm more than happy with mine, I to do not like the extended mags. I keep mine in a Fist Pocket holster. I only use standard pressure ammo in it also. Every person that I have let shoot mine has wanted to get one for themselves.

My Mk-9 is my current "mouse gun"!!!
As a matter of fact, it sits in my DeSantis #2 holster, on my hip, as I write this!!! I just got through putting 100 rounds through it at the range today!!!!

The only thing is that I don't think I'd want to carry the little MK9 in my pocket. But, you never know. The right holster and..well...:)

Mine's a "Pocket Princess"....I keep her in my right front pocket...or my jacket pocket...or the pocket on the side of my computer case.

I love this gun! Shoots comparable to my P226. I have the elite trigger group and it is fantastic!!!

I use the 6 round magazines with the Pearce extension...reminds me of my P239.

Kahr Mk9 is my most often carried CCW pistol.
Either as my primary CCW, or as a back-up to my Walther P99.

Everyone seems to like the these guns. How is the trigger? DAO revolver trigger pull or more like a Glock trigger?

I really liked my MK9. Compact and handy, accurate for a gun its size, and looked cool to boot. Then it started shooting high and left, about 8-10" left at 50 feet. I checked the barrel, and there was a gouge in it about halfway through. When cleaning the gun, I found little circular shavings in the action (looks like someone used a fine laser to slice a spring like bread). I'm pretty sure a bullet caught a shaving and carried it through the barrel. I'm calling Kahr tomorrow to see if they'll make it right.

I have a PM9 -- same gun with a polymer frame.

The trigger pull is similar to a Glock -- a bit harded, but not so "mushy". Lighter than a DA revolver pull. All in all, very nice.

If I thought I could lug that sucker in a pocket holster, I'd go out and buy one tomorrow. It has to weigh at least 27-28 ounces loaded (?)

Doesn't the MK9 flop around and drag your pants down?

While weight is a very subjective thing, for me, anything over a pound in weight begins to feel very heavy and obtrusive to me.

However, I've often thought of carrying one in the summer in a belt holster with an untucked shirt.

It fits my grip like the gun was custom-made for my hand. I've never shot one but field-stripped one and was amazed at how beefy the parts were. Sorta like the SP101 of autoloaders.

The PM9 is 16 oz. with mag, but unloaded. I would guess loaded weight to be about 20oz.? I will drop it on the postal scale here at work later when everyone goes home!

20oz. is not bad in your pocket at all. Its not any more than a S&W airweight loaded.

The MK9 is closer to 28 oz. loaded.

Thanks for the info. I finally got to take it out today for a test run. I put about 100 rounds of various factory brands and my reloads through it. It feed everything I put in the magazines and everything worked fine. I mixed FMJ, JHP, and LRN. Both magazines worked fine.

It does shoot a little high and right but that could easily have been me. At 15 yards, I kept them well within a 3" bullseye target. Some groups with my reloads were less than 2 1/2".

Recoil surprised me. I expected it to kick but it wasn't bad at all. Even factory ammo created no problems.

If only the trigger action could be changed, I'd be completely happy.

I had one problem: The bottom left grip screw shot loose and no matter how I tried, I could not get it to stay in place. After a good cleaning, I'll just use some blue Loctite.

Sweet little gun!

Like you I didn't want to carry it in a pocket. That's the only reason I got rid of mine and currently looking for a PM9. I needed a good gun I could just slip into a pocket for a quick walk with the dog. Mk9 was good but heavy and I have no faith in the Kel Tec minis.

The only thing I noticed was increased primer swipe with hotter loads. Not that it affected anything, but it was noticeable.

Anyway..on weights. According to Kahr.

Mk9
Weight Pistol 22.1 ounces, Magazine 1.9 ounces

PM9
Weight Pistol 14 ounces, Magazine 1.9 ounces

After a complete cleaning, I found that the grip screw is stripped and will not thread back into the frame. Just a minor annoyance.

I e-mailed Kahr since they are now closed, because of the time difference.

It'll be a good test of their customer service. Tomorrow I'll call and order a back up set of screws,

In my experience, Kahr is somewhat slow to answer e-mail, but they will eventually.


I had an MK40 that I was very happy with (very accurate gun), and now I have a PM9 that is also a great (and surprisingly accurate) gun too.

The only annoying thing I remember about the MK40 was that the grip screws would work themselves out of the grips after shooting for a while. Almost lost one when that happened.

I sold the MK40 intending to replace it with an MK9, but ended up with a PM9.

My PM9 has somewhere between 600 and 700 rounds through it and still looks and shoots great.

Re: Kahr customer service.

I emailed them about my little problem with my MK9 Elite, and they emailed me back the next day with a repair authorization number. I'll know in about a month or so whether or not they truly have good service. So far, so good.

UPDATE:

Okay, I overnighted the pistol to Kahr yesterday, and I got a phone call from their shop today. The smith says he'll work on it today, maybe finish it by tomorrow, and he'll ship it ASAP. I also ordered Trijicon sights from them and asked for the sights to be installed. The smith said he'd install them for free (normally $25). It sounded like whatever will need to be replaced (barrel, slide, etc.) will be replaced under warranty.

If that isn't GREAT customer service, I don't know what is. :D

When I checked my e-mail, the following was sent from Kahr at 0853 EST:

"We will send you some extra grip screws for your gun."


By the way, I'm not too cheap to buy a screw, I just wanted to test the service. So far, so good.

Today, four arrived in the mail: No charge.
