Armor Coating

I hope someone can help me with this question. I want to Armor Coat my Remington 870 barrel. I have a VangComp barrel which is, of course, ported. Is it still possible to Armor Coat such a barrel? And if so, does anyone know where I can get this done?
Thank you in advance.

You can refinish the barrel yourself pretty easily if you have access to a bead blaster. I'm a big believer in Brownells Baking Laquer, singing its praises here in the past. Available in many colors (I like OD and Earth Brown) I've refinished several 870s, an 11-87 and a couple of ARs with the stuff. My experience is that it wears as well as Armor Coat and the other spray-on/bake-on finishes. All will eventually wear off some in high use areas, i.e. the action bars. The procedure is as follows:
Strip the part to bare metal by bead blasting, degrease, spray on three lights coats and then bake in an oven for 30 minutes at 300 degrees. Cost with shipping for a 6 oz. can will set you back about twenty bucks.
CDNN's newest catalog has trade-in 870s for $149 each. When I order one (or two) next week and if they need refinishing this is the route I'll take.

Denny,
Was that a Brownells Baking Laquer finish on the 1100 you had at Louis' course? It looked pretty good.
I've used a similar product called Gun Kote on AR receivers with good results.
Trade in 870s for $149...time to run down to the FFLs...

Jeff-
Affirm. You would not recognize the well-worn 870 I bought from Andy at that same course: Earth Brown finish, SureFire forend, XS ghost rings, etc. Actually I used Brownells Teflon/Moly coat on the interior/high wear parts. Made the Express model as slick as my Wingmasters:cool:

Thanks for the info Denny.
By the way, I was hoping you were going to stop by Gunsite when Louis was teaching the shotgun course. I was going to buy you a beer.

If I had known you were there I would have come over to the range Louis was working on and introduced myself. I was out there that week playing with a new M4 from Rock River Arms. They recently won the new DEA/FBI contract, and I was shooting the DEA marked rifle with Col. Young and Hal Wachter.
