I haven't bought any ammo in awhile due to the great panic of '08-'09, so, I'm not exactly sure where prices stand there. I did however drop by my local Army Surplus store the other day to look at knives, surplus packs, etc. While I was there I thought that I might pick up a few more ammo cans just in case I start buying ammo again. Last year I was buying the small ammo cans for $4.99. The same cans are now $11.99.:what: What the heck? Is someone in government trying to ban ammo cans?

All too true. Seems everything that used to be considered used/surplus has had a bit more demand these days. Good for the surplus owners/operators, most I have met are good people.
Deals are out there, talk to the auctioneers and give them your number for ammo/surplus/cans etc. Most "deals" are fewer and farther between these days.
A can for $11.** tells me something-more demand. Why more demand is another topic.

like new 50 cal ammo cans run 10 by me. 30 cal cans are about 7 and used cans (beat to all get out) are 5-6.

I had to dicker a little, but just picked up 4 rust free at the Knob Creek Machinegun shoot for $20. Just lucky, I guess? I already wish I had grabbed another 4.

I don't have to worry. I can get all I want. And no, I will not sell them to make a profit. I just happen to have a good source.
I can't believe they are that expensive now.

The prices have jumped because soon you will have to go through a background check to buy ammo cans, and will be limited to only 1 per month. In some states (CA) it will be illegal to sell 50 cal. ammo cans. Oh, and these ammo cans cans will only be able to hold a maximum of 10 rounds. So get 'em while you still can ---

i go to chinamart. i don't have any moral aversions to saving money on ammo there.
should be cheaper for sure, especially with such an extremely high demand for it. i remember paying like $5/box for 9mm
