At first I didn't like the looks of these at all, but slowly they have grown on me, and now I'm actually considering having it done. I am curious though, does it effect your grip at all?

+1. I hated them at first. The more I look at them the more I like them now. I am not sure about the grip because I have had no experience with the bob. Most folks say that they like a good bob though. Actually I would love to acquire an Ed Brown Kobra Carry(bobbed) some day.

The only 1911 I have is a bobtail. Dan Wesson Classic Bobtail and I love it. It feels like it belongs in my hand. It's the reason i bought it.

I have three bobbed .45's and a fourth on the way. I love the way they feel in the hand. Plus, I like the way they look too. It's not that non bob'd frames are uncomfortable, it's just that the bob'd frames are MORE comfortable. If you're not sure about whether you'll like one or not, see if a friend or someone at the range has one that they'll let you put a few rounds through.
Good luck!

I had one bobbed after the fact because i loved the way it felt in my had. i have a WIDE hand and the sharp end not poking my palm anymore was worth every cent to have it done.
