Bruce in West Oz

Until now, authorities in New Zealand have been far more pragmatic and practical about "gun control" than the whiny, knee-jerk losers here in Australia. :fire:
However, I don't think is going to help the NZ gunowners' cause one tad! In fact, the antis will be out baying for blood -- and I predict an "overkill" reaction from the NZ government over this.
I hope I'm wrong.
Man to be charged over sword, gun attack
New Zealand police expect to lay charges this afternoon after a man went on a violent rampage, killing one person and leaving two women seriously injured.
Police were first called to the town of Pipiroa, near Auckland late last night.
Two women had been attacked by a man with a sword.
Both women had their arms almost severed - one of them had a hand cut off.
Police say the alleged attacker then travelled to Auckland and started firing shots at three men in a car park.
One of the men was seriously injured and later died in hospital.
The offender then took two people hostage in nearby suburb, before finally giving himself up to police.
The man is expected to appear in court this afternoon.
