what the heck is this .45?

I'm posting this up here. Nobody on another forum can figure out *** it is.

Gun is a 45 caliber, single action with a single stack magazine. The only marking is a serial number on the bottom of the magazine well. There are no markings on the slide at all. There is no obvious marking removal indicators such as grind marks. The slide and frame match and there do not appear to be add-ons. It looks like a stock weapon and we just cannot determine its lineage.

The weapon has some very distinguishing features such as the beaver tail, slide mounted safety .

Also one ugly looking .45.

I'm going out on a limb here and say it's a 1 off custom job. Some machinist somewhere got bored and made himself a gun. :D
