I am looking at several differenct holsters for the trusty PCR. Am a little concernced about Kydex cutting into or wearing off the black polycoat finish.

Any of CZ guys have an opinion on this? Better yet, any experience?

I don't know about CZ finishes, but my Walther PPS is getting more wear on the leather side than the Kydex side if the holster it lives in. I suspect that the Kydex doesn't allow dust/lint to embed into it like the leather does.

But carry weapons get beat up, at some point you have to either get over it or carry a beater gun.

I have been making Kydex holsters for a couple years now. I tell my customers to expect holster wear. If you get any dirt in the holster, it will scratch and wear on your weapon.

It will wear, on the edges.

Its a fact of life, holsters wear guns fast.

Does it stop me from carrying my CZ p01?

Nope.

A Gun is useless if its left at home.

A Gun is useless if its left at home. Exactly.
And a pretty gun won't save your bacon any better than an ugly one.

If you want a collector's item, leave it in a crushed-velvet presentation case and handle it at the range with kid gloves once a year.
Defensive firearms get some honest wear, and personally if I were looking for a used gun some honest wear wouldn't turn me away if the internals were in good shape.

On further thought, in the case of my PPS and the SuperTuck it lives in ... the Kydex-covered portion wears least, with slightly more wear at the leather and the most is on the portions that aren't covered at all.

It is very likely that you will get faster wear on the edges and corners of the gun where it contacts the holster, but it will be self limiting. If you carry, shoot and practice holster "presentations" with any handgun long enough, its finish will get some wear on it.

Clearly ANY gun will wear in a holster. But, my concern is will the black poly finish wear faster than parkerized, black, etc.

You might have to hit a CZ-specific forum, because nobody here seems to be able to compare that poly finish to anything else in a quantitative way.

Bump to the top, hoping for a CZ poly finish expert

It all wears if you holster the gun enough. Polycoat, parkerizing, blue, SS, all wear pretty easy. My Glock held up the best, in its hosehide home:)
