I'm looking for a decent OtW holster to carry my Glock 30 while hiking and in the wilderness. when carrying OtW the gun rides just behind my right hip. I want it snug to the body and riding high.
I like the looks and price of the JIT but I have Yaqui Skin type holster that fits the 30(although, I don't believe its the "right" size for it) while it works, the 30 "flops" around like crazy in this holster, because its top heavy especially with 10 of .45 loaded.
How does the JIT carry? Any floppiness carrying in one of these?
They look to be much more secure than the Yaqui I have now and I can order specifically for the G30.

While I don't have the JIT, I like Don Hume products. I do have one of their IWB clip-ons that holds/fits my CS-45 very securely. It is molded to the specific gun and fits like one of O.J.'s gloves. Top notch products and can't beat the price.

I had been looking at that same holster. I was thinking it might make a nice owb option for my P11. I still haven't decided what I'm going to get.
I have 2 Don Hume 721 OT holsters & they work well.

I had a DH 715 thumb-break...definitely a quality holster for the money.
My biggest concern is how tight the JIT will hold to my body....I don't want the gun flopping around like a dead fish back there, especially when I'm hiking

I use the JIT for my WALTHER P-99 and it has worked well. I have also used it with my BERETTA 92 pistols, but think this holster works best with a lighter gun.

Yeah a 45 is heavy, Ive carried using several different makes but it is physics, the weight is above the holster and leather streches. the makers use BS Chrome tanned leather, essentialy paint that shrinks the grain so you get a tight fit, untill it streches! Get a Kydex or find a different place to carry

great quality leather at reasonable prices. they seem better made than don hume.

I use a J.I.T. for my CZ-82 and it works fine. Don't know about anything heavier, but for the price I'd be willing to take a chance on it.

Based on my experience with other Hume holsters, I see no reason why this would not work for you. I can guarantee that Glock's own "Sport/Combat" holster will hold that gun close, with a degree of retention thrown in.

I smartened up....instead of going crazy looking for a belt holster and since I'm looking for a hiking/woods carry system, I decided to get a DeSantis Gunny Sack. Not fashionable or good for EDC, the thing is perfect for the field.

The damn fanny pack works great for hiking. Got out for a couple miles today(about perfect hiking day btw :) ) a good portion in steep ascent and lots of cliffs...I had the G30 and a spare mag in the sack, it was an absolute pleasure to carry that way, no shifting, digging or printing of any kind. The gun was totally safe it did have to get exposed to sweat, water, dust or dirt. Why didn't think of this long ago....??

I am going to get one of the Glock S/C holsters.....The Gunny Sack covers the hiking and field carry, one of the Glock's will do great if I ever shoot the 30 in a comp or need a regular OtW carry option. They are about $12.95 at MidwayUSA, so one is coming with my next order.

I've routinely carried a fully loaded G19 (quite close to the size and weight of a G30) in a JIT (rh) for the last three years with absolutely no problems.

It's definitely a 'minimalist' arrangement, yet very comfortable.

I've been carrying my 3913 in a JIT slide for over a year now. No complaints.

I've carried a Sig P6 and a S&W M&P9 (full size) in JIT holsters.

I find them very secure, with NO flopping of any sort.

I carry my Sigma in a G19 JIT Slide and use it for IDPA. It retains the gun very securely. It looks good. I've been very pleased with it.
