Bren Ten back again?

Does anyone know when these pistols will be in gun shops? I had a friend years ago that had one of these pistols and believe it or not, he had a mag. The gun shot great and I've always wanted to own one, but the guns just dried up and I lost hope on the idea. I saw that Veltor has brought it back and it will accept EAA witness 10mm mags which are plentiful. The price is a little over $1,000 but so are some Kimber's and Sig's. Any info or opinions would be helpful.

Thanks, Knockdownpower

They were supposed to be out around now, but last I heard they have delayed the release for some reason.

Thanks, I hope they get on the ball with the project, I'll buy one as soon as they're available. I have a Colt delta elite and a Glock 20 so the never ending hunt for 10mm ammo is nothing new to me. I realy need to start reloading for them. Maybe we'll have an answer soon.

Maybe Don Johnson will still be alive when the gun comes out, and I could get a Miami classic shoulder holster and get it autographed. Just kidding. LOL

It's not an exact copy of the original Bren Ten, but looks very similar externally.
There's a definite lack of information between the maker & the distributor on when the guns will be out. They were supposed to be shipping about now, but aren't, and nobody's saying when they will.

Timing is everything. This could have been a success about 5 years ago when ammo was still cheap/plentiful, and the internet had many new shooters getting into carrying and learning about various calibers.

Now, given scarcity/price of 10mm ammo I don't know that it will take off.

Something is going on, the first year's production has been sold.

Thanks guys, I appreciate all the info. Hopefully it will be successful this time. It seems to be a good strong pistol, and making it accept 10mm witness mags just add to the possibility of success. In the coming week I'm going to really cheek into the idea and if possible put one on special order (or back order LOL) Anyway, I'll let you all know what I come up with.

The Bren Ten was produced only in small numbers before the company went bankrupt. A subsequent attempt to resurrect it by Peregrine Industries as the Falcon and the Phoenix were also unsuccessful as that company, too, succumbed to financial pressures and dropped production of the pistol.

The Ten remains a weapon of some controversy. Many enthusiasts consider it to be one of the best pistols of its era, and the 10 mm Auto is one of the most powerful semi-automatic pistol rounds available even to this day. Quality control, however, was poor; many of the guns were delivered with missing or inoperable magazines for instance. The magazines were very hard to come by and cost over $100 apiece.

I have a Dan Wesson PM-7 10MM and love the gun. The Vltor may never get released. DW has stopped production on the PM-7s and Razorbacks but some NIB can still be found for about $1,200.

Full Metal Jacket your quote is about the original, not the reproduction that is being reintroduced.

psyopspec did not have a single issue with 10mm availability, even during the height of the scare. Hot loadings are easy to get from Double Tap, Buffalo Bore, Georgia Arms and a number of others.

From a telephone conversation with the marketing director of the distributor, there will not be any of these guns on the shelves in gun stores for quite a while. The folks that have placed their orders at Bass Pro and other places have taken up the allotment for the next few years. You might see some folks trying to resale them at a large profit if they are lucky enough to get one, but don't expect a retailer to have a display at MSRP for a long time.

These are not going to be just another cool pistol. There is a particular market they are trying to get, and it's more about the design, history, and uniqueness of this trendsetting gun than it is about having another ordinary pistol.

Got the bug for a 10mm a while back and did a ton of research. It's all in a 3-ring binder now. Finally found what I wanted yesterday at a local show. A S&W 1006. Not perfect, but darn nice. A couple little idiot marks that I can clear up easily. I ordered all new springs today just because. Now, to just find ammo or brass to build my own.

The only one I've seen did not look like a particularly refined firearm.

If we are lucky.

Funny thing is that Fjestad's latest Blue Book has them already listed as if they are out (page 344, half way down). Full descriptions, approx. numbered manufactured, even has dollar amounts for conditions all the way down to 60%.

Great market research guys, LOL.

While I like the Bren Ten for all the Jeff Cooper nostalgia...BUT:uhoh: what does this handgun do that the GLOCK 20 doesn't do better and less expensive? The mag prices on the Bren 10 became outrageous due to the law of supply and demand...

I guess if you just don't like GLOCKS...? (I think I would like a delta elite - but what do those go for now ...shudder...?)

I love the 10MM but you definately have to roll your own because it never caught on w/ the general shooting public...:(

I'm not trying to start a flame war :fire: just asking why it is valued roughly $500 more than the G20...?

The October thing was from the outfit that'll be selling the pistols.
I've asked for a more recent update, no response. :)

Buddy showed up on the farm today with a new G20SF. We fired a box of fifty through it and *curses!* I think I have to get one. What a sweet firearm!

(I think I might consider the -29, though as I have been carrying the G36 mostly.)

Accuracy. It is going to shoot 1" at 25 yards without mods.

If you are comparing the Vltor product to a Glock, you obviously don't understand the purpose of producing the gun.

When will people learn that yes, there are better values out there. Yes, there are more reliable handguns out there. Yes, there are lighter, more modern, easier to get, etc. pistols. Some of you have to understand that none of that matters to those that will buy this pistol. We are all not limited by small world thinking, LOL.

If you don't understand that, go find other threads, this one is not for you.

I've asked for a more recent update, no response.

I also like how they shut down the comments on their site regarding them. Seems like they got tired of being called out for their lies.
