Difficult magazine loading ..

Recently I bought a Stoeger Cougar 8040 in .40 caliber. It's a great gun .. except for one thing;
The *&*&*^$# magazines are a pain in the **** to load. In fact, beyond five or six rounds, the springs become so tight I just can't get any in! This is the only semi auto I have with this problem.
Is there any thing to do about this aside from just wearing them in?? I bought a "LULU" device at Academy but either it isn't right for the gun or it just isn't solving the problem.
Any advice ... I'd welcome at this point.

Are you using your puny thumb muscles to push the cartridge down?

Instead place the magazine on a surface of some sort while standing and place your thumb on the cartridge, lock your elbow, then simply bend your knees slightly and voila. Your body weight does the work.

use an uplula mag loader, they are well worth the money, and they will save yo alot of pain and blisters. additionally they are awesome for brand new magazines.

In fact, beyond five or six rounds, the springs become so tight I just can't get any in!Is there some kind of debris blocking or obstructing the follower or spring? I've never owned this gun, but I've never had a magazine that hard to load.

I like to shoot 300 or more rounds when I go to the range. I would invaribly come home with my thumbs so sore I couldn't hold anything for a day or two. So I purchased an Uplula also. Quick & easy. It is the best thing I could have purchased. No more sore thumbs. Only problem I have now is everybody wants me to load their mags for them as well!!!

+1,000,000 for UpLula. Best $30 I've spent.

Well, in my original post I said I had a "LULU" but was mis-remembering it. It is an uplula.
I guess I will have to check if there are any other models because the one I have doesn't help me.

^^^^^
they make mag loaders for a reason, and the uplula is a very good one, handles everything of mine from double stacked .45 to .32 (wanted to see if it would work ;) )

The OP already has an Uplula, he just called it a 'Lulu'. The Uplula is a 'one size fits all' tool. You must be using it incorrectly if it's not working. Try again.

:banghead::eek::rolleyes::rolleyes::uhoh:
Okay ... I'm inserting a pause here so you all can razz me .......

But anyway....now that I have actually figured out HOW to use it, it works just great.

And that concludes THIS thread!:evil:

After a few thousand rounds, you'll be able to load the mags by hand. And then you can put the girly-man tool away:neener:
