Remington 597 Trigger Assembly Problem

Hello all,

Just bought a Remington 597 .22LR. I'm having an issue with the trigger - after 8 to 10 shots it locks up. I've dissasembled the gun and cleaned and lubed everything. At the back of the trigger assembly there is a a vertical piece that seems to get pushed too far back when when the trigger resets on an auto reload. When it does, the trigger jams. I can take the trigger out and manually push the problem part forward about 1mm, and then the trigger works just fine. I fire a few rounds and the problem part gets pushed too far back and the trigger jams. I cycled the trigger/hammer manually a bunch of times with the trigger assembly removed (used my thumb to keep the hammer from slamming down) to try and free it up, but the problem persists. The trigger assembly looks like a non-rebuildable unit (and cheap looking at that), but I keep reading about replacement Volquarsten hammers for the gun? I dunno?

I'm not impressed, this is a brand new gun. I'll take it back to the dealer for a warranty fix, but I was just wondering if anybody else knows about the problem, or the fix.

BTW - Between taking the gun apart to reset the trigger I did get the scope sighted in -I'm impressed with the accuracy, if I could just get it to shoot without having to take the mofo apart!!!!!

Thanks,

JP
