I have a request for an addition to the Terminology section of the Library. I ask that the term "Cruiser Ready Shotgun" be added.

And I dont know what that is.:o

Someone else will reply with the correct answer, but "cruiser ready shotgun" refers to the loaded condition of a shotgun for police use. Basically the shotgun is put into the same condition every time it is placed in the vehicle, so the police officers know what to expect when they have to grab it.

I believe (and this is the part I'm really fuzzy on) the condition is with an empty chamber and safety off. That way they can rack and fire or, if they need to put in a slug, they can just slide the slug into the magazine tube, rack, and fire.

Since you can put any shotgun into this condition, it works universally. It is fast, since you only need to rack before firing. It is also pretty safe, since the chamber is empty. Finally, it allows police to select which type of shell they want to use, without having to eject a perfectly good shell out of the chamber.
