Just got one, wow, and pretty, nicer than most I've seen and the safety beats the hell out of that rommy button.

Only thing is, just like my SKS, it's encased in comsoline, thought the slide was stuck, just had to push harder...

Ok, i'll dig out my camera if i can even find it,
trigger, is well, a tok trigger, the mag disconnector (actually it's a locking piece) threw me for a bit of a loop.

She'll be ugly though, I'm not cleaning her up until I know I will have time to hit the range. Figure that the comso has kept her in near pristine shape until now, why change that.

I was surprised by how nice the blue was and overall, I mean compared to a M88, the fit and finish is about the same, really the only thing I can see on it is an idiot mark that probably came from the modifier who installed the safety, other wise it looks brand new.

Not what I was expecting out of an crusty old leather holster, I mean it isn't scuffed up, blue isn't thinned, no nick or scratches other than that idiot mark. WOW, worth the money, kinda glad I didn't have a hand pick, these definably came from the good side of the pile.

Yeah, yeah yeah, I'll post some pics, see the problem is, I got the good camera for my wife for x-mas, and it would fill about 8 screens, so I gotta find my camera, and she gets pissed if I mess with her setting :(

+1 on wishing to see the picture.

I have been wanting a Yugo Tok for years. I have a China Tok and Cz52. I'm really curious about how the full size Tok grip feel like. If you have anyother Tok clone, can you please review the trigger difference?

Views down the barrel, I haven't cleaned the cosmoline out of it yet, don't plan to until I can take it the range, but other than the idiot mark, I don't see any other dings or scratches, the bluing isn't thinned on the back strap or on the trigger guard. the two mags is the M57 and a TT33 side by side

you can see the difference in grip size between them, last is a 52, 57 and 33.

ARE you happy now??

Does anybody know if the safety just blocks the trigger/trigger bar,or if blocks the sear too?

Just ordered my M57 from SOG with C&R. I saw on youtube a clip that showed a M57 with a compensator and what looked like a rubber Slip on Grip with finger ridges. Anybody have an idea what grip will work on a M57? Maybe a modified 1911?

Shadow 7D

Hogue handall make the slip on, maybe something else from Pachmayr

I've seen 1911, but it takes alot of modification because the TT uses a rotary clip
Marchals in CZ makes some aftermarket wood

Look around for the compensator, it's actually a modified bushing

Hogue Handall grip is too big for Tokarev. Pachmayr has a smaller model of slip on grips.

Start now... it's gonna take a while. Even my mags were filled solid with the stuff, tore down and left everything soaking in a tin of mineral spirits all day.

I'm a boiling water followed by mineral spirits and a good blow dry and lube type of guy, actually it's pretty fast, and effective.

Mine is due in from SOG Monday (tomorrow). I am concerned about several reports I've heard where SOG sent one proper 9-round magazine and one 8-round magazine meant to be used in a TT33.
Shadow 7D, have you verified both magazines you received are in fact 9-round m57 magazines?

I only have a few hours left to wait until I find out what I end up with, but I must say that I'll be quite annoyed if I only receive one magazine that actually fits the pistol (I understand M57 magazines are far from cheap).

I'm still quite excited though. I ordered 700 rounds of Yugoslavian 7.62x25 from J&G to go with it despite already having more than 1000 rounds of Romanian ammunition I bought for my CZ52.

cheapest ammo i've found is the CIA polish, still running the deal.

WD40 makes a pretty decent cosmoline remover.

WD40 makes a pretty decent cosmoline remover.

Way too expensive. Boiling water is cheapest, but I just use some old diesel fuel I keep around for solvent usage in a 5-gal bucket. Not very flammable and I won't get burned if I splash or spill it.

I just logged in the the SOG site and am ordering one now that they are C&R!

Mine should be here tomorrow. I paid SOG's handpick fee hoping to get a great one. I always suspect if they actually make an effort or just pick the next one off the pile. I guess I will know if mine looks worse.

With the amount of cosmo on these, I don't know how they could do a handpick. My buddy did handpick, I didn't, can't see much of a difference in ours.

Snowdog

I never opt for handpick fee and always end up with a nice looking specimen (except my latest C&R purchase might have a less-than-spectacular, possibly rusted bore). Twice now I've received a better looking firearm without the handpick fee than someone who ordered from the same folks (usually SOG) at the same time (1895 Nagant and Romanian Training .22LR rifle). That's not to say my buddy's firearms looked bad. I guess it all depends on who's doing the picking.

I didn't opt for it myself, and from what I can see, mine is immaculate, except for the idiot mark, it's identical to it's little brother, the M88 I have, so, like some have opined, don't know if it's worth it.

OTH, I got a century rommy 33, two actually, the excellent has a pitted bore, I was wondering why I was having accuracy problems with it, but the good/cracked stock was in just as good condition, just with cracked grips, but with a spotless bore, so, it's a dice roll

Got it today. Slight holster rub on the edges near the muzzle. Holster is new with no sign of it ever being opened. Bore is perfect and mirror bright with sharp rifling. I do like the mag release and safety much better than the TT33.

Bore is perfect and mirror bright with sharp rifling.

If $10 got you a mirror bright bore, that was money well spent!

I'm hoping to take mine out tomorrow morning to test for accuracy and function (my bore is a bit rough). My Yugoslavian fodder is due in tomorrow afternoon, but I do have 300 rounds or so of Romanian 7.62x25, so I'll likely just use that.
I have a gut feeling it will do just fine.

Shadow 7D

Does the safety loosen up, or is still stiff?
Mine moves, but it feels like I need a hammer to get it started sometimes, othertimes it's fine, hope it's the cosmoline.

Thank goodness my safety works, it positively engages with a distinctive "snick" in and "snnock" down. I suppose that's the way it should work. I would be disappointed if this isn't the norm and I've already heard of issues from others, though all relatively mild.

After soaking in the diesel fuel bucket since Thursday night, mine cleaned up nicely! I'd say my SOG $10 hand pick fee was well spent as there is not a scratch on it and the bore is bright. There wasn't all that much cosmoline on it, the long soak was my convenience, not out of necessity.

I doubt I'll shoot it much more than a function test for lack of mags. I've enough TT33 mags (too short for the Yugo) to load 144 rounds for an outing. I don't think I want to convert my CZ52 mags as they are originals, and I'm more than happy with the Romanian for shooting and now I have stashed away for collecting Romanian, Chinese, Polish & Yugo Tokarevs -- this was the main reason I got the C&R, but finding how much fun the Romanian was to shoot with cheap surplus ammo was a very nice plus (which is why I now have two).

On my shooter Romanian I made it a lot more fun by adding a fiber optic insert to the front sight. Details here: http://www.thehighroad.us/showthread.php?t=413372
