Can you name this video game?

CNN was doing a clip on video games today and one of the games they briefly showed had the player looking through the sights of a Mosin-Nagant rifle. It was cool because they had the slot cut in the back of the firing pin, it was even a little misaligned from the marks in the cocking piece, didn't expect to see this attention to detail.

Could be one of the games from the Medal of Honor series. The MN rifle is used in the Spearhead edition, and like most of the weapons in the game is fairly realistic in details. If you look at the garand used in the game, it actually has correct receiver markings and a serial number.

If by "looking down the sights" you mean the game actually included "iron sight aiming" you'd be limited to Call of Duty, and Red Orchestra (a mod for Unreal Tournament 2k3) I believe. They both have a Mosin Nagant in them. I'm not aware of any others with iron sight aiming and a Mosin...

Maybe they turned the bolt down so it wouldn't block your field of view?

MAK,
The clip they showed looks like the one you posted except there was a lot more detail.

I caught part of Enemy at the Gates during the Thanksgiving holiday and there was a Mosin with a turned-down bolt in it.

I don't have the graphics options all the way up, took that on my machine with the settings I play the game at so it could still be CoD... I don't have UT2k3 to try Red Orchestra and take screenshots from...

If it was a sniper then it's supposed to have the turned down bolt to clear the scope.
How do you take a screen shot while in a game? Just hit print screen?

Did it look like this, by chance? This shot is taken from Red Orchestra and it's looking down the Mosin sighs. I'd be very interested to know if this is what you saw, because if RO has made it to CNN well good for us!

Wow....those iron sight views are SMALL!! How do you ever see what you are aiming at? Check out the view through the Iron sights in Operation Flashpoint, it looks VERY realistic, and easy to aim with!

Now that's the way they're supposed ta look! :D

The problem with the Flashpoint sights is that they are simply a picture pasted on the screen. Red Orchestra used the actual 3d weapon model moved up to the players center view when you use iron sights. Because of this you can also move the weapon around and the front and back sights will become misaligned (Flashpoint can’t do this).
..And 3d iorn sights look way better, too. :neener:

Ever since I started into guns I've been waiting for a game to do that!
Too bad I don't have UT 2004 to play the mod. :(

This thread made me install a few games last night. "Vietcong" and "Hidden and Dangerous 2" both have iron sights and both games have a Mosin Nagant.
