Marlin 39 A scope mounts

Did some Marlin 39As come with the left side of the barrel drilled and tapped for a side mounted scope base?

I think this was available as an option from Marlin back in the 1950's.

There were side barrel mounts made, and many were drilled and tapped post-factory too.
I don't know of any way to tell a factory job from a non-factory.
