Would any of you experts be able to suggest a pet load for a DPMS .308, 24 inch barrel, 1:10 twist rate? Many thanks in advance.

41.5 grains IMR4895 and 168-grain Sierra MatchKing is sub-MOA in my LR-308-T.

That load is a sub-MOA in most good rifles.

While I am not knocking the load info given. I would suggest a recent loading manual and a work up to find the "pet" load for YOUR rifle.

A buddy and I each have a Del-Ton M4 kit that are identicle except for the grip. I had developed a load that my rifle will shoot reliably and accurate and his rifle will not perform near as well.

rl-15, rl-17, and varget behind 175's have done well for me. finally settled on a varget load (can't remember the charge - maybe 44.5? - can't remember - work it up).

rl-15 did very well, and rl-17 did ok, but i think it is just a bit slow for use in a 308.

41.5 gr of IMR 4895 behind a Sierra 168 MK is virtually the traditional .308 gas rifle go to load. In my DPMS LR 308B it shoots well under 1 moa. It is also the load used by an awful lot of other folks shooting 308 gas rifles.

thanks for the responses. What about the range of bullet weights that will shoot well in that barrel? I've been reloading .223 for a few years, but .308 is new to me.

my ar in 308 is a 10-twist and i run 175's.

you can probably run about whatever weight you want - just depends on what your goal is.
