Triggers on NM ARs

Need some advice. I have an Armalite NM that I just crossed the 1K round threshold (not counting at least just as many dry fires). In practice last weekend, I had one instance of the AR firing just as I was letting off the trigger from just squeezing off a round. This is the only time it has happened so far but it has got me thinking.
I have read several posts where various 2 stage triggers not lasting long though I haven't heard this complaint on the Armalite triggers. I plan on doing some traveling next season to compete in various matches so should I plan on going ahead and sinking some dollars in a new-spare NM trigger? If so, are trigger installations something I can manage myself with the right tools? I am not a gunsmith nor have ever claimed to be but have a tendency to tinker. Obviously on a match rifle, I don't want to screw anything up.
Also, are there any here who has opinions on or experiences with Armalite triggers?

The Armalite trigger is nearly identical to the RRA trigger, and both are considered very good. I'd suggest you knock the pins out and send the parts and springs to John Holliger. Call ahead and tell him what's going on and ask (nicely) if he'd be kind enough to tune it so you can stay on schedule. I think he still charges $25 for the work. I'm not a trigger expert, but IIRC the sear engagement is to light. Whatever the problem is, he can fix it.

Sometimes there is a "settling in" period with these triggers. However once you're through that and have it adjusted, you'll likely never have to adjust it again. The easy solution is as Steve says; pull it out and send it off to John Holliger at White Oak Precision for that final tuning.
You can reach him at jeholliger@cs.com or;

Can JP's 1-stage match trigger be used for your matches?
I just got a JP CTR-02 with a 3lb trigger and it's by far the best AR trigger I've used so far. Much better than my Rock River 2-stage NM trigger.

Zak, if Swamprabbit is shooting Highpower in Service Rifle class, he must have at least a 4.5 lb trigger according to the rules. The best way to get a nice trigger and stick to that weight limit is to have two stages.

Follow up - thought I would share with you what Armalite had to say:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You can perform a general inspection on your trigger to see if there is a problem with the mechanism. If you remove the upper receiver assembly, pull back on the trigger, and push the hammer back into the “cocked” position, the disconnector should keep the hammer from releasing. If you release the trigger, the hammer should move slightly forward to a sort of “half-cocked” position. It should not release the hammer completely forward in the “firing” position. I recommend that you perform this inspection several times in a row, and if there seems to be any failure of the disconnector I would recommend that you return the rifle to our factory for inspection and any necessary service.

I do not believe your trigger went bad the way you say how it happened.
it seems really strang that it released when you let off on it. if it did send it back.
now I have seen armalites and a few others double and rock river and and some of them like blind rat says need settled in and what happens most of the time on those is you lose the first stage and then it gets real dicey from one shot to the next untill after the match. had a 189-12x at 600 earlier in the year with a miss when my rock river's first stage went away and the miss was the first shot for record on my 600 stage.
What happens is there is usually a high burr or point on the first stage and after it gets shot a little and the burr or high point wears or goes away you lose the first stage.
Its a easy fix if you work on them yourself and know exactly how it works and how to adjust the weight on them but if you do not know you should send it to someone who knows how to do it.
