I just bought that holster for my gp100. You can't beat it for a quality outdoors or hunting rig. Its definately not a ccw rig.

Galco makes decent stuff so you can't really go wrong with it. If you like the design of the holster it should do you fine.

I happen to dislike thumb strap holsters and prefer a quality molded holster for retention (but I can see wanting a thumb strap if you were going to wear the gun while riding motorcycles/4-wheelers or on horseback). I also prefer a pancake style holster as it spreads the weight of the gun over a larger area making it a bit more comfortable to carry (and it moves around a lot less).

If you want a holster that can be used for concealment, take a look at the Simply Rugged Sourdough (http://www.simplyrugged.com/store/index.html) and get the IWB loops (http://www.simplyrugged.com/store/sourdough.html) for it.

I've got one for my Dan Wesson 14-2 Snubbie (which is about the size of your GP-100 only with a 2.5" barrel) and it carries real well both OWB and IWB (although I did the IWB thing a little different (http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=518519))
