I'm looking at getting my reloading setup a little better put together.

I'll be reloading 45ACP, 38 Special, and 9mm maybe 1 or 2 loads per caliber.

Would I be better off ordering a single Micrometer powder insert or extra standard inserts for each load?

I'd like the loads to be consistent and easy to switch between calibers.

My vote would be for multiple "standard" inserts. Unless of course you wipe your glass with hundreds. If you really want to do it up then grab a LNL powder measure and bushing for each caliber. No adjusting for different length cases.

A single micrometer insert would be about the same cost as 3 additional standards so cost isn't a concern.

I would be prone to go with the micrometer insert. Much more versatile in the long run.

I have found that with the micrometer insert you can NOT just dial it in to the point you used a month ago and expect to hit your load within .1 grain. It'll be close, but you will have to adjust it slightly.

I agree, my micrometer insert gets me close but not right on each time. I expect it has something to due with humidity, barometric pressure, variations in powder, etc. I expect the same would be true with multiple inserts. I guess it boils down to $ and whether you want to spend time removing and replacing the inserts. I decided the Micrometer insert was what I preferred. YMMV.

My 10X will until the lot # of the powder changes. Then there is almost always some adjustment.

That doesn't mean one should not check it each time, because we should to be sure.

Settle the measure before checking charges, and throw 10 or so before deciding on a setting to match a weight. Same thing for checking it next time.

I am doing it indoors, so maybe that helps.
