I drifted out the stock retaining bolt, but I still can't remove the stock, it won't clear the ferrule. Do I have to remove the ferrule as well? Will I have to replace the ferrule pin once this is drifted out?

I don't think you should have to remove any bolts or pins to remove the stock from any SKS. Have you checked out the detailed field-stripping directions at www.surplusrifle.com ?
