I've done considerable Googling, but I'm still unsure what to get. I'd like to get a Williams WGRS-54 (http://www.natchezss.com/brand.cfm?contentID=productDetail&brand=WU&prodID=WU1481&prodTitle=Williams%20Receiver%20Sights:%20WGRS%20Series) sight, and from what I'm reading I'll need to replace the front sight. I'm looking at this (http://www.natchezss.com/product.cfm?contentID=productDetail&prodID=WU1651&src=sim) front sight.
Does this seem OK? Am I missing anything? Is driving out the front sight and replacing it something I can do?
Sorry to dredge up a subject that has been covered before and thanks in advance.

Those sights should work, I prefer Marbles though, available from Midway. They are not hard to change, just need a bit of patience, a small hammer, a brass drift punch, and a way to securely hold your rifle. You will need one a fair bit higher than your stock front sight to use the Williams Guide aperture rear.

You're going to love that Williams sight.

Thanks for the responses. I chose the front sight based on posts from THR, I believe, I hope it's the right one. Would I go without the hood on the front sight?
I have a Marbles on a pre-war Win 30-30, that's what sold me on aperture sights. But I'm trying to go really minimal on the 9422, I love the look of that gun. :)
Harley Rider, I'm sure you're right, I can't wait! I just can't get a decent adjustment on the iron sights, and have the "older guy, rear sight blurry" thing going on as well. The 9422 came with a scope, but I just can't have it on this gun, it just seems so wrong.

With the Williams guide rear, the front sight will have to be high enough that the use of a front hood is precluded, the sight will be too high. Check out the picture of my 9422 in the other 9422 sight thread and you can see it is pretty high, and that is barely high enough, I have the rear aperture adjusted as low as it can possibly go.

The front sight I linked to (and ordered) is the tallest Williams sight. (.450) I think the gun will look better without the hood anyways. Hopefully the sight will be high enough. :uhoh:
Thanks for the input, I may be back for more advice when I get the sights. Some threads I read suggested there might be some filing needed, I guess I'll see... Now to find a brass punch somewhere. ;)

I believe brownells has a informational article on how to choose the correct front sight post. Follow those guidelines and then make your purchase.

I got and installed the sights. The front sight was easier that I expected, the rear sight needed to be worked on with some emery cloth, but not too much.
It is fantastic! The perfect solution. The .450 inch high front sight seems to be the perfect match for the WGRS-54 on the 9422. I haven't even sighted it in yet, out of the package it was just about dead on, even with my far-sightedness.
Best of all the beautiful lines of this rifle are not detracted from with these sights. I love it!
