I live in northeast Mississippi and the ammunition prices have come down. I found that Walmart has a lot of 9mm rounds and dont look like they are running out any time soon. All of the other sporting goods stores are atleast $15 a box. Is the price of these rounds comparable to elsewhere in the country, or are they just really cheap here?

That's cheap enough to spur a whole bunch of "is reloading worth it?" threads. :D

Thats about what it has been running here. Unfortunately I shoot more .40 than 9mm it is right at $5.00 more a box.

Our Wal-Mart doesn't even carry Federal 9mm. Only WWB, Remington UMC and the new RWS Orange Box. I buy the RWS because it shoots the best, and is loaded alittle hotter (NATO spec) than the other two. All three sell for around $13 a box.

I guess as long as they keep getting Federal .300 Win Mag in for 16.97 a box i'll be happy.

Federal's had a bunch of cheap ammo... Wal-Mart's here have had .270/.30-06 for about $14-15 a box. Pretty decent stuff too.

Yup, love that federal 9mm. Haven't seen those prices in a few years, at least for per 50 rnds.

last year when the ammo scare was still strong, I picked up about 10 boxes of Federal 9mm for $8.90 a box. I still haven't shot any of it yet.

also we have RWS (good stuff), UMC, WWB, and winchester NATO with sealed primers (though rare).

I already reload, but not for 9mm. I can't seem to justify reloading for 9 because of the price. The exception is making self defense rounds. The fear for that is any DA getting ahold of that, if I every shot in self defense, and accusing me of "hopping up" my ammo. It would be a Speer gold dot moving at about 1250 fps. You can buy the same.

I can buy target stuff for $12 locally.

"".40 S&W: .45 ACP and 9mm's redheaded stepchild

10mm: their somewhat socially awkward but exceptionally athletic first born son ""

Too funny!

Seriously! Especially when you consider that scrap brass is fetching $2.50-$3.00 per LB, and that there are usually about 100 -110 9mm cases per LB.

I keep hearing about this sub-$10 9mm at Wal-Mart, but it's not in NE Arkansas. We just have the RWS and WWB, normally and I've never seen Federal 9mm locally. I need cheap ammo!

$9.47-$9.97 per 50... same here, but just a couple years ago was the Blazer Brass for $8.97 per 50. They don't even carry that stuff anymore.

(it wasn't THAT nasty, but let's just say that he's not a fan of walmart)

I remember just a few years ago getting 9 mm for $4.50 a box. I long for the good old days.

is federal ammo a WALMART BRAND?

$9.97 for the Federal at Walmart in Franklin, Va. It shoots more accurately in my 92FS and Stoeger Cougar than the RWS or WWB which Walmart also sells and both are more expensive than the Federal.
