Powder Measure: Uniflow vs Redding 3BR

I already have RCBS Uniflow (standard drum) and think it is great. I believe it is a bit old but works well.
I have a chance to get a Redding 3BR for around $80.00 cash or trade out some ammo.
Is this an upgrade or a sideways move? They look very similar in design. The 3BR does seem more refined in pics.

Equal ...if the Uniflow has the micrometer stem.

Both very good measures.
If your RCBS does not have a micrometer insert, that is a plus on the Redding.
Another thing to take note of is that the BR-30 will not do really large charges (Targeted charge weight of 30 grs + or -), while the RCBS measure will. (With the rifle insert)
My BR-30 will do .308 and .30-06 easily.

Just checked my notes. My BR-30 set on max will do 56.1 Grs of IMR 4895 & 52.4 of IMR 3031 & 62.8 of H-335.

Walkalong & Jim,
Thanks for the info. I may try to get it. You two are pretty good salesman. I'm trying to get all my equipment squared away as much as possible right now. I just invested in some more case gauges and could use a couple more. It's always a question of priorities and what is the better deal.
The Uniflow I have does not have the $40 micrometer.
The 3BR does have twice the capacity as the BR-30.
Thanks again,
WNTFW

Not a good salesman at all... I've just used other products that did not work as well...
I have a RCBS Uniflow with a micrometer(large) caivity... works very well for me.. very accurate!
Walkalong has a 3BR and is very accurate for him....
We both have a product that works for what we need !!
If we needed a better product we'd have to spend lots more $$$.$$ to get that, Walkalong has the $$$.$$ ....I don't.:D

They have the small stem too.

Walkalong has the $$$.$$
Who told you that fib?
If they were selling Hummers for a dollar, all I could do is run around screaming "Now ain't that a good deal". :neener:

Most of this proves one thing; simular designs work the same no matter the color.

I met up with the guy today and got the measure for 4 - 50rd boxes of 45ACP factory ammo.
I am the 3rd owner but I know the original owner & will find out if he got it new out of curiousity. I did not get any instruction so I went ahead and took it down for cleaning and inspection. I also love to take things apart to see how they work.
Thank for the info. Looks like I'll be happy with it.

I have never used the Redding, but I have two uniflows. One is set up with large and one with small cyl. Both with micrometer adjustment. I love them. Very repeatable. Just my experience. Good shooting.

For pistol I prefer the Little Dandy by RCBS, I have Uniflow measures with both large and small drums, Ohaus powder measures, Redding, Lyman old and newer design and Herters, the Herters are rack adjust, cam adjust and collet lock/adjust, and Dillons with all the powder bars, two of my last Herters cost $10.00 dollars, $5.00 each, all of my powder measures are micro adjust when used with a depth micrometer or a dial caliper, this allows me to adjust the powder measure in .001 thousands.

I have the 3BR, and I'll tell you - it's top notch quality, no question. It also has zero backlash micrometers. Very well suited for any type of rifle loading including benchrest. Capacity is not the greatest, but I have plans to customize the top end of mine (4x the capacity???)
