Opinions of Olympic parts?

I just bought an Olympic A2 stripped upper. I'm pretty sure it's a forged model. I plan to use it for NM Highpower. I probably should have asked first, but I hope I made the right purchase. I bought it used for a very good price, but I haven't seen it yet. It should arrive this week.

Other than I might have bought a used pig or broken part, any issues or concerns with Olympic parts? Assume it's in like new condition.

Thanks in advance.

I'd assume it will work fine for you. I'm assuming you got it for next to nothing since you can pick up a high quality upper from various manufacturers for less than $100.

I bought a complete Olympic upper in about 2001 to shoot High Power. After I sent it back to them to replace the barrel with one that had the 1-8" twist I had originally specified, it took me from Marksman to Master class in 3 seasons. There is nothing wrong with them a little initial quality control or customer service won't fix.

Paid 50 bucks for it. Assuming it's forged and not cracked or broken, I see these for sale brand new for over 100.00 (for the forged model). I called Olympic and they don't make the case version anymore.

So as long as I get what I bargained for I should be able to build my upper and have no problems with it.

Good times.

Olympic is usually considered to be the second worse manufacture out there. Only Blackthorn has a worse reputation.

I won't spend a dime on Olympic Arms products.
Not even a .5 cent cup of coffee if they had their name on it.
And it has nothing to do with quality, or the lack thereof.

The owner, Robert C. Schuetz, was almost directly responsible for the end of cheap Chinese 7.62x39 ammo in the U.S. when it ended in 1994.

Heres how & why:
