im trying to put shims under the sear and i need to remove the screw. in any videos ive sean they easily come right off but mine is like concrete! the screws holding the action to the stock were somewhat loose but this screw is not moving! i cannot for the life of me remove the sear screw! ive tried different screw drivers, a vice grips on the screw driver. and it just slips. ive stopped so i dont completely wreck the head but i dont know what to do. can anyone help?

I've had a couple that were super tight, a correct size bit in an impact driver will get it right out.

wd4o, pbblaster, etc... it's probably got oil or some other preservative holding it on. let whatever you use soak in for an hour or so then give it another try.

WOW! ended up being SUPER TIGHT. i took the vice grips and clamped them on the head of the screw and that finally got it. the shims did wonders to the trigger. ive got a post going on the 7.62x54 forum trying to find out where my rifle is from or what its made of.

Tula 1927 Dragoon converted into a 91/30 in 1943 perhaps. Then rearsenaled after the war.

the conversation is lighting up over on 7.62x54r about it. cosmoline are you a member there? they seem to think it may be an old hex receiver milled to round.

With that tang date it has to be milled to round. Interesting find. Things got pretty intense at Tula during WWII.

yea. the point was made, asking why would they take the time to mill an old hex if they could have just went on to a new one? there has to be some old factory worker that knows ll this stuff.
