1911 up the yin yang

Hey guys i have been wanting to buy a 1911 for a long time,a colt hopefully. But i would like anybody that has a 1911 to put them up and show them off. They are the best pistol in the world (IMO) so show the heck out of them. (If they are original colts extra points!:D)

Renegade,
I share your passion on 1911's but must respectfully disagree with your choice of Colt.
They made some excellent 1911's in the distant past but I have yet to handle one of them made in the last 10 years that I would pay their price for. They exhibit very loose frame to slide fit, poorly fitted barrels, mediocre triggers, Excellent bluing however.
I do own 6-1911's, 2 of them Colts that I bought 20 yrs ago. Granted 3 of my 6 are custom built bullseye guns and in their current state can't be compared to a stock Colt. The problem is that even in their original state they were far better fitted. I refuse to contribute to a companies sales force who insists on resting on their laurels and trying to push an inferior product on me, regardless of how well the bluing job turned out.
I just bought a Legacy arms Citadel for $400 that was light years tighter than the Colt Gold Cup for $1100 2 feet away.
Again no disrespect intended, just my observations over 34 years of shooting handguns.

Here's a 1972'ish Combat Commander -
http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb212/pacific1927/CombatCommander1.jpg
It's not "original", as it's had feed ramp polished and barrel throated, trigger worked on for 4.5# pull, FLGR, heavier firing pin spring / lighter mainspring, Trijicon sights, replaced loose ejector.
Reliable with hollowpoints now...

My pair of stainless colts (a Combat Commander, new in 2009, and a 1990's MK.IV gov't enhanced bought used from the same shop early this summer). I do not see myself parting with either of these as they are great shooters.

I accept your opinion, and i must say that when i said original colts i meant the past ones so sorry for making that unclear. And thank you for your politeness. Also i forgot to say if they are WWII era even better points.

Is this more like what you wanted to see?
http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/1594/ponyq.jpg
Lend-leased to the British, returned to the States, polished up and reblued with the barrel jeweled. Best trigger I've felt on any pistol.
Wish me luck tomorrow on my interview. If I don't land a job soon, that may be paying next month's rent.

As far as COLT having loose slide to frame fit.... Big to do about NOTHING. COLT builds guns that run 100% in anywhere in any condition, not big boy toys that rarely see the dirty side of a shooting bench.
The Series 70 above is the sorriest 1911 I own in reguard to fit and finish. Lots of slop in the frame to slide but it runs like it's soposed to with any ammo and any quality mag. It has NEVER had the feed ramp polished or any work done to it what so ever. Just the way it came from Hartford in 1981. None of that effects how it shoots.
http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f303/rklessdriver/Weapons/DSC00968.jpg
If you want a COLT you should buy one. They build a good pistol and price it fairly.

Here are some 1911s for you from all over the scale, starting at entry level models to some full house customs and everything in between. I've been a collector for a number of years, so if you want pics, you got 'em. :)
I'll try to catagorize them a bit as well.

Shoots like a laser beam and carries like a dream. It is my ideal ccw gun because it carries like a bobtail commander and shoots like a full size. Work schedule has only allowe me about 250 rounds so far. I want to do a full range report and what-not once I hit 500. Ill get some glamour shots, but alas, I do not have the famous Bac carpet so they will have to be on my hardwood floors.

How do you like that Cimarron? I've been impressed with their revolvers, and bought one, but I wasn't aware they made a 1911 until seeing yours.
I want a GI style next and it looks like it could be a serious contender in my search.

Renegade,
I share your passion on 1911's but must respectfully disagree with your choice of Colt.
They made some excellent 1911's in the distant past but I have yet to handle one of them made in the last 10 years that I would pay their price for. They exhibit very loose frame to slide fit, poorly fitted barrels, mediocre triggers, Excellent bluing however.
I'm with Stork on this one. If you want a decent 1911, check out STI.

As far as the Cimarron is concerned, it just came out. Its another 1911 built by Armscor in the Philippines. I haven't shot it yet, but its a good quality 1911. I like all the other Armscor built 1911s I own.

So, bac1023, of the few 1911s you have to pick from, if you could only have one (where are the smelling salts!) of them (resale value aside) for every purpose (from ccw to serious target and "combat" shooting), which one would you pick?
