Hey everyone, just got back from the gun club a little bit ago, and wanted to share my success stories. I have been playing around with some bullets that I have had laying around for a while, just to see what I can do. I have loads for all of them, I just felt like doing some tweaking.

The first is the 255gr LSWC from Missouri Bullet. At 12bhn I have been using it as a target bullet, loaded over AA#2 usually. I decided to have some fun and broke out the 2400. Alliant lists data for a 250 with a max of 15.4gr, as I was loading for a Blackhawk, I did exceed max slightly. I started loading at 14.2 and worked in .2-.3gr increments to 18gr. I shot these the other day, loading only 5 of each. I made a notation that the 15.2 gr seemed to shoot very well. I went home and loaded 24 of them. Those are the rounds I shot today. They were all around 950fps in a 7.5" Blackhawk, and had an authoritive bark and a moderate amount of recoil. I would call them pleasant to shoot. The amazing part was the accuracy. I could literally hit anything with it. We shot at clay pigeons and golf balls on the 25 yard berm, and it was easily my most accurate load I have ever loaded. The kicker is I also load a Ruger only load of 18.5gr under the Missouri Bullet 300gr LTC. These loads both shoot to the same POA at 25 yards, no sight adjustment needed for a dead on hold.

The second load I have found to be extremely accurate is in 357 Magnum. I am loading a 125 MG JHP, purchased from THR member LongDayJake. I had been previously playing with 2400 and had a load of 16.3 grains and an OAL of 1.580. These shot well, but nothing amazing. While making some that would fit the cylinder of my friends Windicator(the 686 has a longer cylinder) I seated them deeper to 1.555". I also worked the powder up again, and at 16gr of 2400 found a load that was exceedingly accurate. It made me look like a better shooter than I am, no doubt. We also shot them through my friends Windicator, with the 2"barrel. They were just as accurate. It was almost too much fun hitting with the snubby.

Well, if you made it all the way through my novel, thanks for reading. If you just skipped down this far I will sum it up, I made two loads that are fantastically accurate, and gave me a real sense of accomplishment.

There is something surprising when you finally see how big of a difference handloads can make when shooting pistols. I used to think I was a horrible shot (still do at times) until I found some loads with my 686 that just don't seem to miss.

Did you shoot indoors or at ASC, Sycamore?

I miss my wife's windicator. It was almost as accurate as my GP-100. Sounds like you found your load. That's always something to grin about for a while.

I love happy endings ... the joy of reloading and shooting ... tight shot groups.
