Been shooting black powder since 1976 and have had numerous flintlock and percussion muzzleloaders, but have finally decided to breakdown and by an in-line for deer season here in Indiana. I currently am looking at T/C Omega and Encore. I have also looked at the Remington, Winchester, and Savage guns. What are you favorites and why?

I have the CVA Thunderbolt Magnum, or something like that. I like it but I havent shot at anything but paper. However that paper on a cold windy and rai....sleety day at 150 yards freestanding shivering was quite easy to sight in. I did not try to group with it. I use Pyrodex (3 50/50 pellets) and I believe Powerbelt hollow point 295 grain. and a 3-9X32 scope.

Jeez, best inline... ask 100 guys and you'll probably get 95 answers. I have an Omega in .50 and love it to death, but my father swears by his Savage. Basically, with ML's you tend to get what you pay for. Knight makes several great rifles, as does T/C. White makes a number of really nice guns, and Markesbery has a whole lines of modern ML's that aren't true inlines, but have direct ignition. I figure the Traditions and CVA guys will gripe that I didn't mention either of those companies, but I still won't say that either company has the design or quality control to qualify as "A" grade gunmakers. I prefer "designed as such" muzzleloaders rather than a centerfire rifle converted to a ML, a la Rem 700 and the like. But then again, that's just my opinion, and my Granddad used to say "Opinions are like A-holes, everyone's got one, and they all stink."

I am very partial to my Remington 700ML. But most of them would do just fine. I like remington 700 centerfire rifles, so it just feels right to me.
