Was purchasing some AR-15 quad rail handguards from cdnn #tar132 for $39.99 each when I saw the 4-reticle 33mm black reflex for $49.99...It is made in China probably at the same plant the Ncstar products are made. Several reviews on the ncstar red dot (which does not work on anything with any caliber) tends to fall apart or has major reticle drift. I can not find anything about this cdnn reflex sight... Yes I know save your money and go buy a nice aimpoint etc etc. Just interested to see if anyone has tried them on an AR? I have two ncstar mk llls with the laser and are great scopes for me; hold zero etc etc so I am not knocking Ncstar...well maybe on their red dots:

Back to Ncstar optics. Golly Gee Whiz there are some seriously "I hate Ncstar" people!! If I bought anything that broke out of the box I would darn sure send it back and if the next one was fubar also that would pretty well cancel the order for me (the seeds of hate might be sown)? I have only used the Ncstar mark lll rubber coated 3-9x42 scopes with laser and liked the first one so much I bought another one. Mine have worked for me and held zero on my AR's. I realize even if you are flying the biggest piece of junk in the sky it is a fine machine until you touch down and walk away. Same thing about ownership, if you own it must be good so I am wondering maybe I was just lucky and got the best scopes they ever made or am I looking through rose colored glasses while sipping ncstar cool aid? I have looked through many optics to include a 50x on a bolt action 50 cal I have shot a few times and yes there is a difference. Opticsplanet reviews on the Ncstar scopes mounted on Ar's were almost all positive. Many reviews might be by first time optic purchasers and therefore they would be impressed by anything that looked cool and help them see a little better. Dunno. I have not mounted the cdnn red dot on an Ar yet but when I do I will let everyone know if it falls apart or will not hold zero. Got a pretty good gun rest/vise so it is pretty easy to tell when the zero is walking.

Dude these el cheapo red dot sights (both the tube and "reflex" style) are all made in the same factory regardless of the name slapped on the side.

They are worthless ****.

Now, would you like some assistance in finding a better reddot to match your budget? There are a couple of reddots around $100-$150 that are pretty decent that we can recommend that should leave you more satisfied as far as to you know, actually working.

Some of us are not fond of worthless junk. It's that simple. Having seen people waste a bunch of ammo trying to get an el cheapo made in China scope zero'd (yes I have seen people waste enough ammo that they could have brought a decent scope and come out ahead), I get tired of people denying reality. Because wasting good ammo is a crime unto itself.

This is the truth. Most positive reviews of stuff like this are written by people who have ZERO clue of what they are talking about.

Yes would be interested in some help on the red dot stuff. I am receiving another flat top AR this week and would like to mount a good red dot for under $250. In the mean time I gonna keep the Ncstar mark llls until they start giving me problems. Honestly the only problem I have had are the mounting screws on the quick disconnect backing off but loctite seems to rectify the problem. I like the LOOKS of the cheap-o from cdnn. Got the cdnn quad rails $39.95 installed on one AR so I could mount a bi-pod and vertical grip. They seem well made (surprise) and would recommend them. Also how do you do the quote thing and answer individual questions like that...it B so cool!

Under $250 is very doable for a recreational grade optic (that will actually work).

There is the Bushnell Trophy MP, the Lucid HD, The Vortex Strikefire, the Burris XTS-135, Nikon makes a red dot, maybe a used Aimpoint CompM2 if you look hard, and this Konus dot http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=318955 ...and that's for starters. Take a look at those. A couple of the previous ones look like the Aimpoint CompM series. One looks a bit like an ACOG. One looks a bit like an Aimpoint Micro The others look like generic tube dots. I suggest the Burris XTS-135 out of that field if you aren't going to buy an Aimpoint. Burris also makes an economically priced magnifier, too.

(PS. You've got a quote button on your posting toolbar that puts the tags around the text, the first one before the beginning and the second one at the end. )

I have a Vortec strikefire! 2010 model! Red dot only have not used it yet have only been doing night firing with night scope. I saw the youtube video on the strikefire checked around and decided on the "red dot only" due to some brightness issues with the older red/green scopes. TaDa!!! maybe I did good!! Vortec is a great company and they are snowed under with orders.. I just liked the looks of the cdnn reflex sight. Thanks again for the info I will check out some of the other dots and scopes

Strikefire Ded dot looks like a flower with six pedals to me and the wife....We both have the 1 or 2% percent eyes that just don't work with that scope. Great for Dinosaurs and elephants at 50 yards. Friends only see a dot......dots arn't easy sometimes then u die....

I've had good luck with truglo red dots for $40 and have a millet I got for around 60 that works fine too. they're probably not "ready for battle", but then, neither an I.
