Need help finding part

August 5, 2010, 01:49 AM
Whats up THR!!! Finally back to the states from the deserts of Iraq!!!!!

Came home to Kentucky to relax alittle, and in my time here I have purchased a new firearm (North American Arms 22 Mag), small gun, but should be fun to shoot. I have also inhereted from my father a shotshell reloading press, pacific dl-155.

Ok, now on to why I am here. The Pacific DL-155, still in awesome condition, just missing two peices. I am missing the primer catcher, not so important (don't care if I ever find that peice), and I am missing the primer seater assembly, looks like important peice, need to have it to seat primers (atleast that is what it looks like). I can not seem to find it anywhere here in Kentucky, and I have contacted Hornady to see if they could help me out, but they tell me that they do not have the part that I am looking for.

Here we go, anyone here know where I could find the primer seater assembly, or does anyone in the Kentucky or Georgia area have one that they would be willing to part with for a small fee? If anyone could help me with this it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks THR

Welcome back GI and a job well done! Regarding your Pacific Reloader, Hornady merged with Pacific some years ago and eventually dropped the Pacific name. I would suggest you call or email Hornady Manufacturing Co and inquire about a replacement part. Several of Hornady's reloaders are actually Pacific presses. I'm not that familiar with their entire line to say for certain that your's is still in Hornady's line, but would suspect they would have parts. Good luck.

Well, I already tried contacting Hornady, as a matter of fact I just sent them another email. But they showed me on their site were I could the manual, but they told me that they didn't have another primer seater assembly.

But like I said, just sent another email, this time asking them if they have a part similar to it, but from another press. Hopefully I hear something back soon.

Ok, just got an email back from Hornady, and this is there response :

No, this is a one of a kind part. Sorry

I thought Hornady would have at least given me more then this. Well, I have tried searching the internet as well, can find alot of manuals, and some spare parts for the dl-105, but I can't find anything that will fit the dl-155. so it looks like I either need to find the part, or junk the pacific and just get a new press. I really don't wanna give it up, my dad used it since I was a kid, and the press is 98% there, but I can't find this one part (:cuss: :banghead: :cuss:), gets alittle frustrating.

I guess my last option is to hope someone has the part and they don't mind parting with it.

Welcome back army_husbandky, and thank you for your service.

The only suggestion that I can offer is to buy a used Lee Loadall and use it for priming only. Do all the other load functions on the DL155. I'm just not sure what gauge you are loading.

The Lee has a cheap auto feed priming option that works.

That way you can continue looking for the parts that you need for the DL155, and still load shells.

Ebay has a Lee Loadall 12ga right now for $25 plus shipping.

I don't suppose that somewhere in your fathers belongings is a small box of odds and ends parts? It might have broken or he took it off for some reason and put it "over there" until he could get back to it. Most gun owners and reloaders I know have at least one box of left-over parts either on the bench, in a drawer or in another box of assorted parts. Just a thought.

I think I have seen those loaders for next to nothing on Ebay. I dont think that the gauge would make a difference b/c I think that all of the primer seaters would be the same. The resizing die would make a difference , but , I am not familair with this model . So I am just shooting from the hip.

Item number: 180541146496 DL 105
Item number: 190426764152 DL 350
Item number: 300452056587 Pacific wad press
Item number: 330458356579 These are listed as pacific 12 ga parts

Here are a couple that I found real quick and priced very reasonably. You may want to contact Hornady and see if any of the primer seaters are interchangeable with the 155.

Hornady's tech guys are second to none . They will help you through whatever. I had a 366 in 20 ga that I played with off and on fr 2 yrs trying to get it to work. They took every phone call , looked at every video I sent them and sent tons of free parts to me . They will help you until the last dog dies.

Thank you everyone for all the help, still looking for the part.

I have contacted Hornady, twice, for some reason all they keep telling me is that the primer feeder assembly for the pacific dl-155 is a unique part and that they do not have any.

I also asked them if the primer seater assembly from the dl-105 would work, they told me no there as well.

I did check out some of the spare parts that were listed on ebay, got a question out to the seller to see if that part is there, and to make sure that the primer seater assembly is there.

I looked at that dl-105 though, it looked like the part would work in my 155. Has anyone had experience with that, interchanging the parts like that, if that works then I will start looking for that too.

If I can't find the part that I may try to part then I may start looking into getting a Lee Load All 2. That was the press that I was originally looking at, then my dad offered me the press, and I would really like to use it. But if I can't, then I can't. Just sucks that I can't use the press because of one part.

But I will continue my search, hopefully that seller on Ebay tells me some good news.

Again, thank you THR

You may want to make an inquiry at ( and (
In case you don't already have it, a parts list for the DL-155 is still available at Hornady.
Looks like the primer seater assembly (050038) also requires a spring (380047) as they were sold separately and not as a unit. Good luck.

Otto, looks like you may be right, looks like I need the assembly, spring, and on further examination, looks like I also may need the shell holder net (390096), :banghead:, I'm still checking ebay, might put something on craigslist, maybe someone on there has the whole press, then I could strip it for parts. I don't know, will have to keep looking.

Keep checking ebay . I bought all of my Hornady Presses off Ebay. I have seen a few 155's go through there in the past. They sell for like $30-35.00. You have to search every possible term also. People dont know exactly what to call them. Try searches under; Pacific reloading presses, Pacific shot shell reloaders, Pacific shotgun reloaders, Pacific reloaders, DL-155. You will be suprised how many people list under these terms. You will almost always see a loader that you havent seen before using different search terms. I bought a Hornady Apex 3.1 in 12ga for around $150.00 and a Hornady 366 in 20ga for $125.00. Both presses looked prestine and both have performed well.
