Taurus Customer Service?

Hey folks.

I have a question. Have any of you had any dealings with Taurus? They claim to have a Lifetime warranty on all of their guns.

I have a Taurus PT-22 that has broken. I can fix most gun problems, but this sucker is BROKE. The frame cracked right where the trigger drawbar passes through it. You can't insert the magazine, the slide will not retract and the trigger is stuck. I used to like this little gun. It was very accurate, and up until now, very reliable.

So the question is, have any of you had to send a gun to Taurus? Will they fix this problem? If they can't fix it, will they replace it?

Thanks for the help.

I have heard good and bad, my personal experience was pretty good. I own a M415 stainless .41mag, The cylinder locking pin needed replaced and they gave me the option of sending it in or sending me the part. I took the part, 2weeks instead of possible 6 weeks if sent in. No charge, no problems, on a gun I had bought used. If I remember correctly a few months ago someone on this board posted about a discontinued model needing repair and Taurus offered any new model in trade. Sounds like yours would be a replacement. One thing they will not do is tell you what the problem was or what the repair entailed. If my memory serves, Jim.

They replaced a model 431 for me a few years ago. Had a timing problem, sent it in, wasn't fixed so Taurus paid to have it sent in again - it was even worse when I got it back. I sent a polite but rather unpleasant letter and recevied a reply from, I believe, a customer service manager offering to replace it with a new model 445 as the 431 was no longer being made. So, it went back to Taurus a third time. When I called to check on the status of the replacement I was told that the gun would be "reviewed" and a decision made as to whether it would be replaced. Along about then I got kind of livid and demanded to speak with the manager that had sent me the offer. The person I was speaking to went and checked, appologized and I had the replacement gun shortly. So, yes they will replace guns - but it might take a little effort on your part :banghead:

Good luck, let us know how you make out.

I have a little titanium .38 - the instructions say to not scratch through the finish because the titanium will corrode. After a box or two of ammo the rough surface of the forcing cone is scratching through the finish. It's obviously a manufacturing defect, but it's finish related. (the one thing they don't cover) I'm not looking forward to the process I'll have.

Had a PT-22 that did exactly like yours did. After a few weeks of use it literally fell apart. I had the dealer send it back to Taurus. After about a month I called them and was treated very rudely. When it finally was returned I promptly traded it. I have another Taurus now (94) that has been flawless, but I bought it through Davidson’s. That way if it gives me any problems Davidson’s will fix or replace it without the hassle.

Send it back to Taurus wait the wait and then when it finally returns get rid of it.

I have had no problems with Taurus service. Heck, I even got a new gun out of the deal.

Purchased a PT100 a few years back at a pawn shop and after I put over 500 rounds I noticed the slide had a hairline crack on it. Dont know how many rounds been thru it before I got it. Sent it back and 3 weeks later got a brand spankin new gun. Even sent back the 11 round mag along with the standard 10 rounder too.

I had the run around from their Customer Service lady, cannot remember her name now. But all I wanted was the scope mount for the Raging Bull in .44 mag. I told them the .454 mount would work, she said it would not. I even sent her detailed drawings with all the measurements and she got with the gunsmith in house to look over the drawings. My last conversation was that I had the "newest" model of the .44 mag, and the mount would work. So she sent it free of charge, along with a one year coupon for my NRA membership for all of my trouble. I'm happy with Taurus.

Had a very similar experience with my PT-22..Except I was getting head seperation on the 22 case and the the gun felt like it exploded. Cracked the grips, slide lifted off the return bars. Hand hurt from blunt force. but no real physical damage.

Could not believe how strong the gun really is..LOL..Anyway..I sent the gun back to Taurus. Minus the magazine..Three weeks later I got a new PT-22 back with the same serial number and two magazine to boot. The repair letter said tha an over long grip screw was the culprate that cause the return lever to hang up, etc...I still feel that it was a head spacing problem..

The new one bore is rough hough comparee to a couple of other I've looked at. (Rough machining) But the little thing cshoots like a champ.

Send it in and see what they do for you. i've had nothing but good luck with the Taurus line. I have several of their revolvers to boot.

No problems for me. I haven't had to confront their Customer Service as none of my six Taurus guns have had any problems.

The firing pin broke on my PT-22 and I sent it in to Taurus for repair.
I got the gun back less than 2 weeks later and it was fixed.

I've put more than a thousand rounds through that PT-22 and had no problems with it until the firing pin broke, and that's my fault for dry firing
a rimfire without an empty case or snap cap in the chamber.

No complaints about Taurus here.

I've had nothing but good experiences the 3 different times I called them. Very helpful and polite.

How about obtaining parts from them? I just want to replace my 99 slide with a new 92BNS slide but seem unable to get anything international happening with the Taurus CS... there's no other channel to contact them but the CS number and the Finnish importer is entirely useless :( .

So are Brownells and Numrich with this part... any ideas would be appreciated. Anyone?

I have a Taurus PT-22 that has broken. I can fix most gun problems, but this sucker is BROKE.

You pretty much have to deal with Taurus then, or live with a nonfunctional gun.

Two experiences w/ Taurus customer service. I shipped a revolver in to them in 2000, and got it back repaired a month later. This year, I had the same part break, and decided to fix it myself. It took 2 months and a lot of calling (lost order, charged VISA, snafued order system) before I got my part.

"So the question is, have any of you had to send a gun to Taurus?" Yes
"Will they fix this problem?" They will try...
"If they can't fix it, will they replace it?" I didn't wait around to find out.

My very first gun purchase was Taurus... a CH 85 snubby. Right out the box brand new it would fire four rounds or so and then not fire the 5th. I paid to fed ex it back, about a month later they send it back to me. Then I went to the range, and guess what, the same problem again!

I bought the gun for every day carry. I didn't want to risk my life by relying on this gun. At that very movement I said, "for sale". I ended up trading it in for a S&W 642.

I'll never purchase a Taurus product again, ever.

The two times I've had to contact Taurus for parts I've been treated very well. The first time was for the pin that holds the extractor in the slide on a PT-945 (lost it while cleaning) and the pin that holds the adjustable rear sight to the frame on a PT-99 (lost while shooting). Both parts were replaced no charge, no hassle. The second was to replace the rear sight blade on the same PT-99. CS rep at Taurus suggested sending just the sight instead of the whole gun so I did. Several weeks go by with no reply. I call Taurus and they have no record of getting the part. I can't find the paperwork where I sent it so it's back to Taurus to buy a replacement. The very nice lady I spoke with told me since it wasn't my fault the USPS lost the package she'd send me a replacement, again, no charge, no hassle. I love my Taurii :D and I'm pretty impressed with their CS.

From my own personal experience, they'll fix it, but don't expect it anytime soon. Double check serial numbers when you get it back too ... have read about them getting repair jobs "crossed-up" at the shop.

YMMV,

I have had pretty good luck with Taurus CS. They have always been nice, but not always effecient (SP?).
When I have ordered parts that are not critical it has taken weeks, but hey I got a free mag and extension for waiting. When I have had a critical need it was 3 days max.
My PT-111 is an anvil and I am fairly happy with their CS.

Before you buy a Taurus, you should realize that they are aligned with those who want to push "smart" guns down our throats. (http://www.taurususa.com/whatsnew/pr1103.cfm)

My Taurus catalog went into the recycling the day after I saw this. But that's only because I don't have a birdcage to line with it.
