357 magnum using 158 grain leadcast, is there any other drawbacks to using powder such as H-110 at max charges, besides leading?

The thing with H110 is, you cannot download it very much. 2400 is THE powder for heavy lead bullets in the .357 Magnum.

yea im not asking if i can download it, IM asking if there is any other downsides to sending leadcast bullets at very high velocitys. The only thing ive heard bad is leading.

Not H-100 (Blue Dot, instead), but here's a range report that was posted to our website by one of our customers which reports his .357 loads, some of which are rather warm and which did not cause the leading problem you refer to:

here is my data for 357 mag, u might find it useful
all loads are using BlueDot powder and Small Mag pistol Primers and 158 grain bullets from http://www.missouribullet.com/

these loads do not lead even at max loads!
all loads will print about a inch at 20 yards
all numbers based on 6 shot groups

11.5 1444 731 59
12.0 1519 809 47
12.5 1541 833 31

on a graph the velocity is very linear, while the ES's show a nice curve with 11.0 being the choice load so we shoot it as our everyday load. not a really light load, but not full house. very shootable, we go though 200 per gun a session.

Hope this is helpful.

That deffinately helped some of those velocitys were very similiar to what i was attempting to replicate. I was just cautious that maybe the gas would go aroudn the lead bullet in the barrel. This would then cause maybe a nasty bulge in the barrel or such. I am just being careful before I load me some anti cougar/bear rounds.
