Hi all!
I need some information on a pistol that I've recently inherited.
It is a S&W M-51 in 22 magnum. The pistol is in about 98% with very minor bluing wear from being stored in a holster. The bore is bright and shiny, the wood grips are still sharp.
Does anyone have any information on this model.
What would one of these be worth? Not that I'm planning on selling, I just want to make sure I'm covered with my insurance.
Thanks for your help.

A nice little gun if the cost of .22 WMR is not a problem. They sell in that condition for around $350 +/-.

90%=$350. This is a good gun which I would buy at that price. I'd rather have a 650 for $300 BUT I'd not pass up one like yours. In short I can't think of a better hiking companion than your gun IF bears ain't around!;)

Hey Gordon - in the latest Guns & Ammo they have a "new guns for 2004" section - one listed is a S&W in .22 mag, aluminum & titanium. I can't remeber the model number since the same guy who used to confuse me on S&W auto's has taken over naming the revolvers also.

Thanks. but NO thanks. I bought 1 S&W Mtn Gun last year and it was the biggest POS I ever saw. I Imm. traded it off for a pre sell out gun. My friend bought a nice little toy 360 Kit gun titanium , He carrys it when he mtn bikes the Sierra's on his $4000 light weight bikes. I can see the point here, and he has not shot more than 200 rnds maybe 50 mags, BUT it shows signs of deterioration , unlike my Viet Nam era Mod 60 that I've put 5000 rnds thru with maybe 2000 mags! I would not like to try to do a trigger job on the new smiths, whose double action now sucks. I tried a performance center PD386(I think) which had an OK trigger and I like the sights , but no thanks with the lazer crap all over it. Amyway I want a nice 80's 650.:)
