Looking at buying a savage edge .308 but don't want to spend $40 on the expensive single rail. Has anyone found a cheap two peice wever mount that works with it.
Mounting a 3-9x38 scope.

Unless your going to mount a really 'long' bodied scope on the Savage Edge, a 'rail mount' is usually necessary.
Even 'extended' two piece bases sometimes come up short on the Savage long actions.
Without knowing the mounting distance your scope has to work with, and the location YOU need the scope to be for the correct eye relief and cheek weld, it is nearly impossible to guesstimate which bases and rings you will need.
Generally, on the Savage long actions, you almost always need 'extended' two piece bases, sometimes front AND rear extended bases, or a 'rail' type base to get MOST of today's shorter bodied scopes to ride right.

I got an edge but no 2 piece weaver mount. You don't mean the drilled/tapped holes on the receiver, do you?
