Went shopping for one today and not only were they out at my favorite shop but the dealer said the price jumped ~ 80 bucks at the first of the year:confused: Three weeks until the next shipment gets in.

That's interesting, a couple weeks after I bought mine last year the MSRP was officially cut by $100. :fire:

I haven't heard that it was bumped back up though. Do what WildAlaska suggests, check with another dealer.

RSR Wholesale has not changed their wholesale price on the P99 so far as of today. I think your dealer is smokin' crack.

Of course, RSR is also not showing any in stock, but they are pretty good about keeping the prices up to date.

P99 pistols were being sold for $599 before a $100 price decrease about a year and a half ago. Price only went up $25 in November of last year and that makes the P99 five hundred and twenty-five dollars (street!) which is not bad for a quality product.

In about August of last year, I bought a 40 Auto P99 from Joe Galibois on GunBroker. The cost was about $480 including shipping. Just after I placed the order, I got an email from him saying that my timing was perfect because a factory price increase made him raise the price in is listing to about $$500 including shipping. A quick check on GunBroker tonight showed that they were running about $535 without shipping.

I remember reading that Walther purposely dropped the price to get people who would otherwise buy a Glock to try their pistol. I guess they figured that they've established their reputation and it's time to start making a little higher profit.

Smart marketing...I bought one and have had at least 20 people (that I did not really even know) at the Range ask to shoot it. All but one at least said they really liked it, and at least 2 of them that I know of bought one. Simular stories over at the Walther forum.

I've noticed a price jump as well. If you look on GunsAmerica most P99's are now in the $525-550 range from dealers. They used to be $475-$500 range. Also, one of the dealers with the best prices was Gulfstream Sports, I haven't seen an ad for them in awhile.

You won't see anything from Gulfstream Sports either. He got in a bit of trouble down there in Fla. with the BATF.

Shame too because Val was nice guy and had good prices on quality stuff.

Wholesale went up about $80 . The lower prices you may still be finding are on guns already in stock left over from 2002 pricing .

Being a member of the NBS buying group (a membership of some of the largest dealers in the country) which allows us to buy direct from most manufacturers of guns and accessories , we were notified by Walther in December of the price increase . ( not tooting our horn . Just letting you know that my source is Walther ) .

The P99 was/is still one of the best buys on the market .

Sure is a shame, Val is definitely a cool guy and was a pleasure to deal with. I bought a P5C from him and my buddy bought a P99 shortly before he got in trouble.:(

If he was ever able to get back in the game, I would buy a gun from Val the day he started back up.

I remember someone posting something about availability of P99s at TFL about mid December or so. One response (if I remember correctly) was that the popularity jumped with the latest Bond movie and supply dwindled.

I checked everywhere online and sure enough they were all sold out at that time. The reports at that time was that a new supply would hit the market at the beginning of the year and thats when I noticed the $30 to $40 price jump. *shrugs*

When I bought my .40 P99 in October or so, my FFL dealer told me that the price was going up after his distributor's current stock was gone....

Who knows.
