Since I can't find any managed recoil .308 ammunition any-dang-where, I have decided to load up my own. I need some reload date that can get a 125 gr. bullet in .308 Winchester up to about 2600 or 2700 fps. Any ideas?

Link to Hodgdon Youth Loads:

Take their 2,592 fps load and crank it up a grain or two.

The Sierra manual shows a load using Reloader 7 that starts at 2700 fps. I use Re7 with the Sierra 125gr SP in an old push feed Winchester 70 in 30-06. I started with the minimum load and only went up a grain before I hit the 2700 fps I was looking for, then adjusted seating depth for best accuracy. Accuracy is spectacular.

In my Sierra book, the start loads for their 125gr SPT bullets are listed at 2700fps. And they list a lot of powders. In my Cast Lyman book, they list powders for a 122gr cast bullet. One example is Win 748. Start load is 25.0grs for 1735fps to a max of 41.2grs for 2596fps. Start load for the Sierra 125gr SPT is 42.8grs of Win 748 for 2700fps. That's an example for just one powder. Between the two books, you should find a suitable load for your bullet.

I agree with post #2, your best bet is to load ammo using the Hodgdon data provided for Youth Loads (http://www.hodgdon.com/PDF/Youth%20Loads.pdf). I've used some of the data and the formula provided at the top of the page and all worked out well.

I use a LOT of H4895 for my reduced/youth loads and it works wonderfully. It's an insanely flexible powder.

To download even further use AA 5744 or SR 4759. Made just for that.

H4895 would be what I would use most likely.
